A good example of this would be that the Golden Era for V30's is from 2000 - 2003.

Started by Nolly, of course. A good deal of people bought it too. A good speaker should be balanced and have more frequency response, not less. Any 5 - 6K spike can easily be solved by either lowering your presence on your amp or a low pass filter in pro-tools.

block letter sounds better than the sig
I buy that one though. Granted, it's not THAT much better, but it's a little better. Having the wires soldered to the board is slightly better than the ribbon connectors they used.

Mine is the [Insert Boost Pedal Here] is the secret sauce crap. Digitech Bad Monkeys were good because they were cheap. Stop paying $250 for that garbage.

I'd always heard the only difference was the stock tubes they each came with, though I never went down that rabbit hole. So was there really more to it?

The block letters came stock with killer GE 6L6’s. When they switched to the sig 5150’s they also changed tubes due to lack of GE supply.

the audiophile world is rife with this stuff,

like you might hear you need to spend 7k on specific cables to get that real bass left in your whatever speaker, or something else obscene to have for your living room that isn't built, or I'd assume not built by engineers to maximize the room for whatever you do, ie listen to records... wtf?

or getting a 12k power conditioner, or power whatever to make your power cables really bring out that tone, uhhh ok?

it's all nuts, including players that swear by certain capacitors or NOS tubes from the 50's by rca, or certain speakrers, there's preferences but hard lines or whatever to get that tone is silly

i might have fired shots, but that's my lukewarm take on the matter

hard wired better than pcb, etc etc, these tubes are X, versus these other tubes being Y, when it's more complicated than that

The liquid leads and other terminology to describe whatever the tone can sometimes be vague and depending on who is using said terminology mean different things to whoever is listening....

it's too early to think of other things that people say to describe tone beyond liquid leads, but they're out there
