Anyone ever even tried the Tone Tubby speakers with the XTC? I know they tend to be darker than regular speakers, so I imagine the settings would be a little out there...

Hard to say - depends on the configuration IMHO. I wouldn't want to go HC exclusively, I'd like them X'd with something else. I just mentioned too, in a different thread, that although the crew at TT apparently say their ratings are "very conservative", I still have a beef with 35-40W drivers in a cabinet. I never want to experience the sound of a speaker going apeshit FLUB on me again from being over-juiced. Not pretty :bleh:

Spooky really :student:

Ive been pumping 120 watts into two of them for a while even tried it full up once and couldn't get the speakers to make any bad sounds. Id say they are more like 60 watts each.

I use them with an Einstein and don't find them too dark at all, just no icepick.

What's the tone character of this speaker? Anything close to a GB? What does it sound like?

To me it has a British character not unlike a v30. Crunchy breakup, even frequency response, handles bass extremely well.

Are you talking ceramic or alnico? What is their rating for each?

oh sorry, ceramic.

I have no experience with the alnico.

it is the standard h1e cone also.
