Too Much Info about YOU on SPOKEO.COM...Erase your info!!

There's a new privacy invading site called
Spokeo

There's a site called spokeo.com that's a new online USA phone book w/personal information: everything from pics you've posted on FB or web, your approx credit score, home value, income, age. Remove yourself by searching your name, find the URL of your page, then go to the bottom right corner of the page and click on the Privacy button to remove yourself.

How?

Easy, I looked myself up. Click on the correct "You" A map will appear with your profile in a window. Copy the URL address. Then on the lower right is small letters click on the "Privacy" button...
Paste in that URL you copied from the browser...
 
Unfortunetly this is some of the bullshit that we do here where I work. I actually hate it and think stricter laws should be passed.
 
Crazy site, I was warned about that just recently. though the info wasn't accurate for me, it was accurate for other people. so invading and not cool.
 
Yeah--this is some scary stuff... time to get all personal stuff off the web...
 
They had me 3 times. Tip: you can only use the same email address twice to remove yourself. After that, you need to use another.
 
I've been working on minimizing my internet footprint. Problem is that if you are going to use sites like facebook, these types of spying engines are usually going to find you.

I got rid of my friendster and myspace and a few other things I didn't need, which helped a lot. I cranked all my privacy settings in facebook all the way up, but spokeo still gets info from there somehow.
 
this freaks me out...how can I protect my myself?

I have joined countless websites over the years including forums and email accounts...what can I do to clean up my mess?
 
It's just a matter of time until sites like this make every bit of your private info public, regardless of your "internet footprint". It's a shame, but people can find anything they want about you even if you don't join public forums or social networks like Facebook and Myspace. It's really scary and not moral. I'm listed on this fucking Spokeo site 3 times. :(
 
how do you find out how many times you are listed? I just typed in my main email. I use a gmail account for social websites and other junk.

they had me down as the owner of a house worth $300,000 :lol: :LOL:

removed the info - it wasnt anything i was worried about because all of it was incorrect, outdated, or missing anything important which is a good thing.
