Overdrive/Medium gain: '70's Dumble ODS 50 (light years above the rest), 1980 Jim Kelley, Ronin J7GT, Gjika 10N (honorable mention)

Cleans: 1969 Marshall Tremolo 50, Larry Wrecky 30, 1963 Vox AC30 Top Boost

I haven't seen, let alone played, half the amps mentioned in this thread.

I haven't had the ability to, financially, but I don't think that makes me any less than anyone else.

Shit, when I was coming up, there wasn't too much to choose from, honestly. You played what you could get, and saved for the gear you drooled over.

I don't buy and try. And now I know what I need to get the job done right, regardless of genre or style. I don't need much, it just has to work correctly.

So I get it.

Man it’s a killer amp. Feels kind of like what I wanted the Herbert to be, and straight in too!

Not that the Herbert is a bad amp at all by any means, I’m a big fan.

Plus the Beta is consistently the amp when people come over think blows the doors off most things in my collection.

In the past it’s been top 4 or 5 for me, but a certain other amp(s) I’ve played to me I liked more where I feel Hermansson’s excel in things like tightness, sharp attack and fast response, so I didn’t list it out of redundancy

If it weren’t for redundancy like that in tier 2 I could’ve also mentioned Naylor, Cameron, Langner modded Marshall, SLO, but I also for those had other amps that I felt beat them at their main strengths

It’s a behemoth! I heard it was based around the Herbert and Uber, at least partly and I can hear it for sure. It’s the biggest, most efficient sounding amp I’ve heard so far. I had a particularly huge sounding mark iib converted to c+ colisuem and when AB’ed, the Beta still sounded a little more efficient/powerful and bigger, particularly the sublows. Unloaded plate voltage of 680 when I measured (same for my Hell Razor KT150). It’s like the amp with the biggest dick in the room. Admittedly it’s not one of my favorites I have in tone, but the power can’t be ignored

Yeah for me, it’s one of those amps can just plug in, mic up and it’s good to go. And if you’re playing in a band context sounds killer micd but fills the room too. Amp is just beefy.

The vast, vast majority of stuff that i've played has been through my friends who also play guitar, and stuff that's come through the studio i worked at.

That would be absolutely retarded if I had owned every amp I had ever played lol

Yeah I think like my Uber Rev 1 and Recto’s it’s one of those amps that’s easy to record well vs say wizards or Hermansson’s being kind of the opposite, but sounding amazing in person
