If I want the best rackmount delay with true stereo in/outs and a multi quad tap that I'm able to configure the taps at random, what is the top 5 delays made? My old G-force had a quad type delay like i described but it sucked tone so it's long gone.

All of them are Eventide lol   ...but seriously, you can get an Eclipse and you'll have a keeper and no matter how transparent any fx unit is it will benefit from being run 100% wet with a mixer so your dry tone stays intact....The Eclipse will do what you want(has a whopping 31 dedicated delay algorithms!) with a fx block left over for you to add whatever else you want(even more delays if you want), say a gorgeous reverb or some pitch shifting or whatever, the unit is loaded with different algorithms!....ECLIPSE! Being that it's still current production has obvious benefits as well.

Most any great unit you´ll find will probably suck tone just as much as the G-Force, but for a different reason; they are all made for studio aux use where preserving the dry tone isn´t a thing. From a live guitar perspective this also means they´ll all have long preset changes with drop-outs. So getting a mixer is more or less a must.

But anyhoo, if price isn´t a concern I´d recommend any modular Eventide (4000, 4500, 7000, 7500, Orville, 7600, 8000) and after that I´d go to the Kurzweil KSP8, Lexicon PCM80, Eventide Eclipse, Ensoniq DP/Pro and Korg DL8000R. All of them have capabilities and sound way, way beyond that basic four-tap in the TC.

Korg DL8000r

I have an H3000 and 2 x SDE3000 and I still think the Korg is better. I have the Italo presets, which definitely help, as it's a bitch to dial in. Didn't care much for his 2290 presets, but the PCM42s presets are bloody amazing.

That said, I agree with the above. I run a full WDW setup, so can't comment on the "tone suck" and it doesn't affect me.

Yup. And I’m selling my spare DL8000R in the classifieds. :D

Is that all five? C'mon I know there's least 5 to talk about.
