'Made a jam track so I could see how the amp would fit in a mix.

Real Wrecks are going for around $40K. If I had that much money to blow on an amp, I probably have better things to do than post on message boards.

Tell that to three-quarters of TGP.
The new ones are "only" about 6K and are getting some great reviews from guys who own/owned originals. Did you build yours or buy it?midnightlaundry":aozbu5es said:rupe":aozbu5es said:Nice tone. Is that real 'wreck or a clone? Express?

Very cool...nice looking build! Did you buy a kit or source the parts using the schematic? What kind of iron? I'd love to do a build like this someday.midnightlaundry":3pnmsne6 said:I built it. Here's a link to some build pics. I used some different components, like 716P tone caps instead of polyester's. I also did a different layout.

It's a real saggy amp, but is more articulate than an amp (Marshall) with a cathode follower driver tone stack for the most part. You can hear the power supply do a catch up for a split second when you do a quick back off on the guitar volume.
You'll need an attenuator if you plan on playing it at any volume lower than a full rock band! This amp gets it's sound from power clip distortion, not a high gain preamp. My clips would sound better if I could play at full volume and get the speaker moving. But whatever.. It's cool to have something different than the standard uber gain buzz box tone.
