That is the great thing about an Express; they clean up great. The tone stays bright and brings out single coil tone. Then it gets fat when you roll it on.
Definitely...I forgot to address this. Alot of amps clean up when you roll back the volume, but not like these. The wide range of gain is what's so amazing...you can go from screaming distortion to glassy clean with a twist of the guitar's volume. It has a touch sensitivity like nothing else...the drawback being that it also exploits any source of noise like neon lights and dirty power much more so than other amps.

I posted these in the "Speaker Break-in" thread but here's a great example of how they perform. My Express sounds pretty much the same as this one.

Is a clone, a new production, or a Ken Fisher original Trainwreck?

A clone is an amp not built by KF.

No, a clone is an amp not built by the Trainwreck company. Dave Funk actually built some of the "originals"...those must be clones as well then. You've apparently been paying attention to some folks at TGP.

Its like saying that any Gibson or Fender not personally made by Orville or Leo is a clone.

There's some weird high end thing on that tone that hurt my ears. Had to stop listening. Not a fan of that tone at all.

I think that Trainwreck tone is outstanding. Very Vox meets Marshall plexi to my ears.

:) This is what I thought when I played on them.

I am looking forward to checking out the new made Trainwreck's.

It also was a number of years for me between playing a original & a clone. Also the rest of the gear being used was different. But it seemed to me the tone was pretty different. The clones I have played on were darker & did not have as much of the Vox glass or the harmonics. They did have great dynamics & did sound good ..... but it was different.

Having said this my father fixed amps in our basement when I was young. I was the one that played them to make sure they sounded right. I played on a lot of vintage amps..... no two amps sounded identical even if they were the same model. Just like snowflakes....

What ever happened to these?

Funny you brang this amp up.....I was JUST THINKING of this one a couple weeks back but forgot what it was called.
Remembered the Demo and how killer it was. Then seemed to disappear off the planet?

Found one for sale here, but the only one i could find.

Pretty awesome for $869

Suprised it didn't catch on better

That is awesome sounding.. How do you like the Rockcrusher?

at a fraction of the cost. yes, us working stiffs can have one too.

I picked up a used Komet 19 a few weeks ago. Been gone on vacation so I haven't unboxed or played it yet. Wanted something low wattage, touch sensitive, raw and aggressive without much gain. I have never owned an amp of this circuit type (Trainwreck) as it is completely 180 degrees out from what I normally would play. But, looking forward to to something sweet for noodling and messing around with my LP Replica's.

Nice clip, BTW.

Here's what my Ceriatone Liverpull sounds like... old vid, but it was fun.
