Has anyone done a transformer upgrade on their Ceriatone amps & did it improve the tone dramatically?

I'm wondering if upgrading to a Mercury would be worth it?

Nik says his transformers are comparable to all the high end one so I'm wondering if the extra cost is worth it.

Personally, Mercury transformers are an acquired taste.. some like what they hear, others don't think the price difference between Mercury and something like Classic Tone (which are fantastic) or Ceriatone, is worth it. They have to my ear a more detailed sound but sometimes to me this detracts from the rawness or vintage vibe that I like from some of the others. I would think Ceriatone's transformers are more than adequate and that the circuit in the amp and the person playing the amp and guitar will make the biggest difference. So the answer is both "yes" and "no". Not much help I know...

I'd call it a transformer swap rather than 'upgrade', since little is known (at least by me) about the Ceriatone iron. And I generally try to dissuade people from swapping iron unless (i) they are somehow dissatisfied with their amp, and (ii) think the problem might be related to one of the transformers.

And don't believe everything you read on the internet. :)

From what I read, Ceriatones components are top notch, so I just ordered a stock Yeti 50.

We'll see what happens in 5 weeks.

ah, I thought you already owned the amp. I think you made a good choice, but that's just my opinion...
