Looks like NIN will be no more soon. Good that he chose to end it while he's on top. I might have to catch them in Chicago in August as it looks like that is the last date close to me. Always been a big fan and will be sad to see it end.

He will never top "The Downward Spiral"

I used to be a huge fan but kind of lost intrest in the later 90's when his music kind of lost its edge.

Bet he pulls a Rolling Stones and tours again.

I mean what else is he going to do ? Go fishing ?

Write the soundtrack to another Quake game?

Well in the last interview I saw he seemed pretty jaded about the 'biz in general. I mean from TVT raping him on the PHM deal, all the problems with Interscope/Universal trying to steal from him, his manager running off with like $19 million, I can't really blame him if he leaves public life altogether. We shall see...

meh, the Nov. '08 NIN show was poorly attended.

He didn't play any of the hits.

They didn't do any kind of encore.

I kind felt kinda ripped off considering it was like $55.

I thought the Japanese, ambient group, Boris put on a better show than NIN.

I'm just sayin' :aww:

Love Trent, nobody wrote as angry as that man and broke new ground for others to follow.

Incredible musician.

The ending of Perfect Drug is as good as it gets.

Last time I saw them was for free 2 years ago on Year Zero. :D

That's nothing compared to the ass rape that was the Clapton/Winwood show. $300 and no Higher Love? PSHHHHHHHHHHH! I was upset about the cost of the 311 tix this year too.

I'll admit Trent tailed off after Spiral. The Fragile didn't need to be a double album IMO. Rumor has it he walked in with the whole thing as one big song. With Teeth was disappointing. I liked Year Zero though. Awesome concept with the flash drives in the bathroom stalls.

All this Trent hatred...totally unwarranted. He's a very creative individual, recently put out a great instrumental album and very good vocal album as well. It's not the NIN of Downward Spiral or The Fragile but that's fine, people change. Lots of musicians put out good albums and bad albums; few are always on. I think Trent's track record with NIN is no better or worse than other artists.

And what he said is that he's packing up NIN as an arena touring act. It makes sense: he's in his mid-40s, he's engaged to be married soon, and he's stated repeatedly that he's in love and wants a family. After all that he's been through, God bless him for it and I hope it happens for him.

He's also said that he's not done musically. He looks forward to songwriting and being creative, and he's open to whatever that might mean. Movie soundtracks? More uptempo rock records? Instrumental albums? Who knows. But whatever he does, I'll bet he sticks close to home, and concentrates on his family, his music, and not running around the globe anymore.

And he's still one of the smartest people in the biz, and one of the few with his fingers on the pulse of the new music environment.

I dont get the With Teeth hate. That album is a fucking rock n roll masterpiece.

Yeah,

They didn't fucking play Perfect Drug. :gethim: :gethim: :gethim: :gethim: :gethim: :gethim:

or Hurt.

Then, they only played like one minute of Closer

When NIN toured with Bowie, that was the pinnacle.

... and to gutiarslinger's point, how often has it happened that an artist/act becomes bitter because people only want to hear the hits and completly discout their latest "masterpiece"?

many fans bought the album for the hits.

these are the same fans paying $55 to see him.

If he wants to piss on his fans, fine. fuck him.

Sadly...he mentioned a while ago :(

He had a lot of cool things to say during the Digg.com interview.

Smart man for sure.

I'm just glad I got to see them on the LITS tour....and got to see 'Reptile' live one last time!

And yes I am a Trent fanboy...

When I went to the last show: ticket + pretty much all the tshirts + LITS tour poster = close to 300$ :D

What did I say...FANBOY

I really had no to desire to watch Trent live, I would sit in the dark with mass amounts of booze with cans on enjoying the ride

I want to remember Trent for his studio work anyways.

I saw NIN with Marilyn Manson at Roseland in NYC circa '93/'94. It was easily one of the top 3 shows that I've ever been to. MM was just starting to get some buzz and he put on an awesome show (I had never heard any of his stuff before that show). NIN sounded killer as well...

Always liked Trent music, energy and anger too.

In addition to continuing to make music of his own wherever, whenever or whatever that may be, I'd like to see him produce as well. He has a great deal of talent that could be good for other acts IMO.

If I was part of a national or world act, he'd be in my top ten list, near the top, for producer.

OT: Whatever happened to Al Jourgensen (Ministry)?

I saw them on that tour in 94. I remember they had The Jim Rose Circus then Marilyn Manson and he almost got booed of stage.

NIN put on a one of the best shows ever.

FYI this was at the San Jose State Event Center.

Many of them...however, many will also alert fans that they won't be "revisiting" too much of their past material....ie Iron Maiden on the Life or Death tour...so fans know what to expect going in. I always like a mix of new with the old...generally one third new and two thirds old, depending on the artists catalog.
