Hi guys,

I've warmed up to my F-100 a lot more. I honestly hated it at first until I cracked open the volume. A tubescreamer helps a lot too! The amp is very uncompressed to begin with, so the tubescreamer tightens it up just enough.

I want to replace the stock power tubes with Winged Cs, but what about preamp tubes?

Tung-sols? Chinese 9th gen?

Also, maybe unrelated, but the amp makes a loud pop when I am powering down and flick the standby switch. Any clue as to what would cause this?

The one I'm borrowing.....i just can't bond with it. I like the clean channel, but that's it.

Yeah I can see 100% that you wouldn't be able to bond with it, given your fondness of the Mark series and their tight gain structure. The stuff I'm playing now requires a fat rock tone, which this amp definitely delivers when cranked. The boost makes it that much better.

Yeah, the clean is definitely awesome on this amp!

when I had my F-50 combo, it was very picky with tubes, I thought the mesa labeled tubes, whatever they were at the time sounded best in it. Tung sols made it sound to bright in brittle, at least in the combo version i had
