I'm starting to be tired of doing the 4cm thing with the axe fx..
Any of you thought about modding the amp? I'm abit afraid to do so..

At high volumes- yes, it's pretty damn hard to get a good clean tone. At lower volumes, it can still be done.

Get the taper mod done by the cats at Bogner HQ. Should hold out a lot longer as a clean with ZERO loss of the gain otherwise available on Ch.1

Call Charlie, ask him about it.

Peace,
Mo

Try using the gain as a volume, with the volume knob cranked.

Guys, I have the amp for quiet a while, I don't mean getting it clean without a breakup,
I mean missing a real clean channel voicing.

Really?! The title says "did you give up on clean tones"....lol. Why don't you contact Bogner...nobody here is really qualified to answer your new question.

Well it wasn't giving the impression you guys understood what I've ment.
They said they'll mod it for me but as I stated before, shipping to and from the US would be
like 1000$ total at least..

And there's nothing to do with qualification, I'm bummed about the 1st channel and wanted
to see other owners thoughts, you don't have to respond if you don't see the need to.

Honestly... you could just get another amp for the $1000 you'd have to spend to get it modded. If the Twin Jet is the absolutely last amp you'll ever own, then mod it. But if you see yourself going another direction, I'd definitely get another amp for your clean needs. Remember that these kinds of mods tend to decrease the value of the amp, not increase it.

If it is done by bogner at HQ then it wont decrease the value at all, just make it a bit harder to sell. But the value is the same.

It sounds like you're looking for a 3rd channel, or the ability to change the first channel into a clean-only channel?

Depending on how much room is left in the chassis you could possibly have bogner install a third channel - but it would not look pretty.

If shipping + costs of the modification cannot be justified, then i would look at other options for amplifiers to serve your clean needs.

BTW your band's song Shapes is my favorite

Thanks allot again bro (-:
I like the 1st channel but I'd rather even have a clean channel instead,
I could trade my AFX for a rivera knucklehead tre, someone actually offered that
to me lately, not sure what I'll do with 2 tube heads though, seems like an overkill.

I would not trade the axe for the k-tre, rivera's are great but i never liked the one that i played. It is one of those voicings that you either love and can use, or it does nothing for you/does not leave you inspired. Not a bad sounding amplifier but not something i would recommend either - definitely play it before you trade if you are considering it.

Honestly what you've got going is working good for you - i would not change a thing man. The solo's sound great on the mix with the axe, the cleans mixed with the mesa sound great and mysterious, you have the ability to run any effect you like via 4CM which makes for a very versatile rig.
