.... and their latest one "XV", is very, very good - yet literally ignored by modern media (as far as i can tell). ....

I couldn't agree more.

I can tell you first hand they do have a interesting relationship. I agree with the quality of songs and have said to Ty why don't you write stuff like that for Kings X? I personally feel that it's because X has never gotten any recognition and made good money for what they have done. So they have to develop other streams of possible income, solo efforts. I mean at the end of the day even if the music is unbelievable and they barely make enough money to live, you start to think you should look for other ways to make money! There is much more to the relationship they have and it's personal, so I won't post any of it. It has been said so many times it's criminal what they have done and what they have received. All the props in the world about being so influential, dynamic, unbelievable as a 3 piece don't put cash in their pockets! The early days, as far a production, they were great with Sam at the helm but this is where it all started and has led them to where we are today!

Great points as usual Jeff.
Yeah, it's somewhat sad. I saw them in Louisville a year ago and there couldn't have been more than 45 people there, yet every single person there were huge fans. Nothing annoys me more than when you talk to other "music" friends and you mention King's X and they say "I remember them in the '80's...are they still around?". Then again, even huge-popular bands from the '80's who are still releasing music (scorpions, ratt, whitesnake, winger, etc) don't get much of chance on today's clearchannel dominated radio stations.

..and the lack of attention on Dug's solo stuff is down-right criminal. Strum Sum Up is flat-out awesome.

hard to believe it's a pod! Much happier with his tone of the past 3 years with the Egnater M4 and custom modules I did for him!

He's not using those anymore? Why not?

No he has been using the Egnater M4 pre amp with custom modules that I did for him for the past 3 years! The pod has been removed from his studio and rig!

That makes much more sense. I misunderstood and thought you were saying that he's using the POD now instead of the M4 and your custom modules.

absolutely underrated and very underknown and underlistened to by guitar players in general. I never gave Ty or Kings X the time of day until a few years ago even though Ive known about them for years and have seen some of my favorite players rave about him/them.

Even if he isnt your thing, you have to respect him..

Love the GROOVE and the Lead Vocalist and the FEEL/ SONG- Rock with a little R@B SOUL, kinda like a modern FREE ( Paul Rogers old group).

Very cool - I've read about Tabor as a tone guy but never heard him before.

A great track."WOW" is absolutely correct !

Did not know people were still doing/ creating this kind of music.

Loving Balance right now, listening to when I saw this thread. A good guitar player definitely makes the equipment sound great, not the other way around. :D

By "lead vocalist" I don't know if you're aware, but that is Ty. Ty is a very, very capable singer. Honestly, I would say his true strength is back-up or harmony vocals - as he has a somewhat limited range, but him and the bass player in King's X (Dug--more on him later?) have basically split lead vocals 50/50 on most of the recent releases. In fact, their most popular song "It's Love" was sung by Ty.
