No, read my OP. There was NO reason to bring Stapp's name into a gear interview and shine a negative light on Tremonti's sig model.

Even tho you share the same opinion of SS that BB has.

I never gave an opinion of Stapp. Stating that the music world doesn't like him isn't an opinion. BB gave a negative opinion of Stapp, not me. I think you are reading other's posts in this thread and somehow associating them to me. You would be surprised to know my thoughts on Stapp.

Again, he is a tool because he offers an opinion that has absolutely nothing to do with the interview, at a disservice to Tremonti. If BB had an ounce of respect for Tremonti he wouldn't have associated Stapp with Mark's signature model.

His explanation got a little long winded but he pretty much stated he doesn't want other peoples names on his guitar.

This is exactly what he should have said, but didn't.

I never heard of them before but we did a Live Nation Show of theirs...they are awesome and I was majorly impressed with teh level of musicianship of the entire band..sort of progressive and jazz fusiony which I like. If your looking for 4/4 an 3 chord rock songs with chuck berry riffs move on, you wont like em

I see Umphrey's in concert every chance I get. .They play here in VT at least 1-2 times a year and in Albany , Boston , etc as frequently . I could care less about whether someone likes Scott Stapp. .These guys are as good as it gets as musicians, and Jake is 1 of my favorite guitarists and Bayliss is so good when he gets to play lead also! The audience LOVES them , and they LOVE the audience and are extremely personable. . Frankly I'm pretty surprised someone hadn't heard of them at this point! Eric

For what ever its worth. Watching that video and the way he awkwardly draged out his explanation. That was like watching a video of a guy I work with. In normal situations he is normal enough, decent guy. Once he is placed out of his comfort zone he spouts these awkward jokes that I don't even think he finds funny. It's like a really bad defense mechanism. Then he enters panic mode for opening his mouth and draws out the awkwardness as he tries to recover. I am not saying the guitarist is not a tool, I don't know anything about him or the band really. I am just saying I have witnessed similar situations more times than I can count. It doesn't get any less painful to watch.

Brendan Bayliss is a very good guitarist (and UM is an EXCELLENT band). Seems like Brendan is exercising that whole "freedom of speech" thing.

I, too, would not want to be associated with Tremonti or Creed. And I would vocalize it, just as he did.

Interesting that someone pointed out that Jake is the better guitarist - I actually prefer Brendan's lead playing.

Those bashing Bayliss - are you familiar with UM's discography? It's slightly better than Creed's. Also, he can say whatever the fuck he wants. (In China or Pakistan, not true).

And now you sound bitter. Umphrey's McGee is a cool band, and both guitarists are players for sure. But it was still a douche thing to say. We are allowed to have opinions about bands you like and bands you don't like. It'll be ok.
