I always thought Wicked Sensation was an SLO100

Sounds way closer to that than a Marshall.. Even a boosted one. There are tons on mids in that guitar tone and its overall a lot smoother than a Marshall.

It would take a lot to make a plexi sound like that..

It's the famous purple plexi, the solo overdubs on the REH video at least...and I doubt that George would record the all important solos with something he considered a "lesser" set up and use a Soldano to do rhythms. George has stated MANY times over the years that he tries everything and always comes back to Marshalls. The midrange and smoothness you hear are probably outboard gear and the mix, plus it MAY have been recorded on analog tape, which sounds AMAZING.

I then summed it all into one output on the console and send it to a Fostex 4-track cassette recorder and from there into the digital machine.

I don't want to question the guy who produced the album, but there were digital mixers/machines used in recording in 1985? I would've thought it was all analog.

The digital machine isn't what you think it is. It used big tape reels and was extremely expensive. I don't know the details of those machines though. I was told about them in 1993 while attending a studio class.

Yeah, it probably was one of those digital reel to reels. However, by the mid 80´s you could even edit movies fully digitally if you had the money to buy a Edit Droid. It ran on Laserdiscs, so in a way the tech was already there.

Ahhh...no. Watch the REH Instructional Video. The purple plexi is the only amp plugged into and turned on and there's a yellow Boss box on the floor. He was doing solo overdubs for the album and they filmed it. The solo from Street Fighting Man is the take they kept. He's using the orange quilted maple ESP 3 pickup strat that he got at the Tokyo Music Fair. He commented that it wasn't even "his" pick up configuration or anything else, but it just played and sounded sooo good he had to buy it.

Are you actually arguing he only used a Marshall on Wicked Sensation? If so, you are 100% wrong. What next, picture of sasquatch as "proof". George Lynch is in my top 5 favorite guitar players and I read years ago that he used a SLO-100 on that record which has been verified by many others that is the case. Sure, the Marshall is probably in the mix but the SLO is the main amp. This isn't even debatable. Are the two Soldanos in his instructional video there for looks? Was his website years ago wrong? Was George confused on what amps he used on that record when interviewed? Sorry, you are wrong. Use your ears. I just tracked with a SLO literally less than a month of go. That is the tone of Wicked Sensation. It's common knowledge. Let me guess, you are going to argue he didn't use Laneys on Under Lock and Key because of some picture you found.

Also, I took a picture of the amps when I was in the studio last month tracking. From this picture, what amps did I use to record?

That is what I was talking about on his site years ago. I decided to ask him directly. See if he responds. I actually debate how much the Engl is on that record.

I'm reading the November 1990 Guitar World and Lynch is featured. He said he used a borrowed purple Marshall 72 or 73 Superlead for most of the heavy leads and rhythm on the album. He said he used a variety of other amps for certain passages. He only mentioned using a Soldano for the arpeggiated figure in River Of Love, that's the only time he mentioned using the Soldano.

I picked up Dokken's Greatest Hits recently. Haven't listened to them in a long time.

I forgot how killer Lynch's tone was back in the day, especially his rhythm tone.

I think my favorite was from the Lock and Key album. It's so thick and smooth . I remember reading that that disk had a lot of Rockman on it. Is this true?

Also remember reading that Tooth and Nail was solid-state Randall.

I know there is a lot of talk about Georgy around these parts, so sorry if this has been beaten to death.

Second favorite tone was from Back for the Attack. I can definitely tell that's a Marshall. Maybe Super Lead? Raw, crunchy, dry...

If my recall is accurate, GL used a TS9 > ABY switcher > 2 x Rockman X100 processors > Marshall JCM800 100 watt effects loop returns > cabs. If you want more control, try using a TS9 > Rockman Sustainor 100A > Rockman Chorus > Lexicon PCM42 > Marshall. Get the early 100A model Sustainor with the blue lettering.

If I may... Try this:
Guitar > K2 KLON clone w/bass switch > Bogner XTC pedal (red) > 2007 or later VOX AC30CCH (or CC2 w/Alnico Gold speakers) w/effects in VOX loop > cabinet. This is not as compressed sounding as the Rockman rig, and gives you a lot more in the way of gain options.
