you mean, like this?
same as it ever was
I don’t think I’d call Judas Priest a boy band with heavy music, haha. Silly costumes, check.

True. That wasn't a good example. Also when KISS did it during Strutter it was new and kinda cool. They were in fact putting on a show for all the senses.Judas Priest is a terrible example because they were the first, the progenitor of that particular style

well Rob does like the boys after all.I don’t think I’d call Judas Priest a boy band with heavy music, haha. Silly costumes, check.

to "manly" bondage leathers:

...and I like their music, and Halford is one of the best metal vocalists ever, but their fashions, even give Asylum era KISS a reason to shake their heads:

I'd still rank Judas Priest's fashion choices above that.

for good reason.Yeah but priest created that image and brought it to metal. That's why it's a dumb example. It didn't exist in metal/music before they did it.
What about that time in Madrid after Freddy and Rob finished up and Freddy mistakenly put on Glenn’s red leather pants before hurriedly exiting JP’s backstage area?Yeah but priest created that image and brought it to metal. That's why it's a dumb example. It didn't exist in metal/music before they did it.
for good reason.
John Kay (Steppenwolf) and Jim Morrison wore leathers before Priest, and didn't add the gay bondage "flair"
It doesn't matter if you think it's a good reason or not, it's still what happened
They made that the style for metal, John Kay and Jim Morrison didn't make hippies start wearing leather and studs.
even hippies knew better wearing leather with metal studs = actual '70s gay bondage fashion. can't escape that one, simple, obvious fact. Halford even admitted that's where he got it from, and the rest of the band went along with it. can't get more gay than actual gay.
edit: even Kiss and Polyphia didn't go as far as Priest.
Ahhh, I didn't realize you meant literally, hahawell Rob does like the boys after all.![]()
I mean, yeah, it is gay motorcycle shit, but that isn't what's being discussed
Priest didn't copy another band or hop on a trend - unless youre suggesting that the tiny and insular gay motorcycle culture was a huge cultural phenomenon in the late 70s. which uh, sure
If you think it looks stupid? Yeah fair
But they didn't jump on a trend, they started the trend
Sure. But it doesn't take a whole lot to change their look to a less over the top one incorporating leather. There's no saving the KISS one.
