UPS is a criminal network

When this happens, tell the UPS guy you want to be the broker for you item. He will leave you a form. You call and do the the brokering. You then go to a UPS office and pay and pick up your item.

Might not be worth the effort for a small amount, but i had a bill of close to $500 once on a $2000 amp purchase. Came out to only the GST amount, saved $400.

I thought this had to be done at the border and/or at least before UPS deliver it to you?

If they call you to get paid, you say it to them and the driver leaves you a form. If its a surprise delivery, you say it to the driver and he leaves you a form also, and drives away with your package. Its the part that sucks but if you wanna save, no choice. Takes about two-three days for the whole process, but you save A lot.

Theres not really any other away around it when your stuck with a huge ass bill.
 
I loath UPS they damage a les Paul custom ( broken head stock) a Bray modded 1987x and when they packed a Diezel that a seller shipped to me they placed it face down in a box with power tubes in shards ..I only use FedEx for the items I sell I have an account and they are awesome .
 
Anytime I have to ship something to me via UPS up here in Canada, I just cringe. I feel the pain.

That's why I only use FedEx now for larger items..I shipped an 85' Kramer Baretta from East Texas to lower Minnesota and they charged me $85 + some other bullshit fees..they were the only ones open,and I had to drive close to 40 miles to the bigger city from where I live..then I found out there is a FedEx a little closer and sent another Kramer guitar to upper Indiana for $26 with insurance..I use USPS for smaller items.
 
I have so much contempt for the courier industry. Been let down so many times. Populated by people who's god given abilities are limited to being able to drive a fucking van. An industry that crumbles to ash the moment some cretinous fuckwit absentmindedly sticks the wrong label on the wrong box.

When we all work in complex and demanding industries and conscienscously manage a barrage of technical information and teams, we have to endure society's most incapable people, tragically and spectacularly failing to simply transport a fucking parcel from A to B.

$64?????? I shipped a guitar via fedex yesterday and it was $101!!!!!! their prices had to have gone up. because I used to pay $40 or $50 via fedex!
 
UPS is a disaster. I constantly get delayed packages from them. In fact one of them that was due Friday showed at the local hub that morning but it is now mysteriously delayed until next Tuesday. Ridiculous.

FedEx is way better. Less expensive, faster AND deliver on Saturday.
