I couldn't disagree more with the biased opening opinion piece. It's not a "hectic" start, it's a successful one that has people cheering.

"It’s been a hectic start to Donald Trump’s second term as U.S. President, with the stories coming thick and fast. And the latest of these to cause a storm? That’s the signing of an executive order on Monday calling for the creation of a U.S. sovereign wealth fund."

A dollar shouldn't flow out of this country until our own problems are fixed. I'd say that'd be about ten years before we can reverse course, if it can be reversed at all.
Here is the problem though. USAID was like $42 billion. Social services and debt on social services accounted for 70% of last years budget. These are the real issue and no one is going to cut any of this. And Floyd, remember our discussion? Tell me how a country who spends this much on social welfare isn't a socialist country. The defense budget is like $840 billion, far more than needed to effectively defend our country. No one is going to cut that either.

I thought military/defense was the largest share of our budget?

Anyways, shutting down USAID would be fantastic and hints at the sort of changes that need to occur in order address the bigger issues. It's not relatively that much money, but it is so much more significant than that. That's why people are losing their shit.

Dude, even if it is only 1% of the federal budget it's still billions and billions of dollars. Don't miss the forest for the trees.

Americans with common sense don't WANT all the social welfare entitlements. What political party is constantly adding to and extending the programs? All for control of votes. They could give 2 shits about actually helping people in need. Cut the programs back and make the lazy fuckers get off their asses and work or starve. They can make the choice.

What party has gone along with for decades, if not actively making the situation worse? Republicans talk talk talk about limited government, fiscal responsibility and so on, but never actually take concrete steps to reduce it. Trump is starting to now, to his credit, but I think it will be a case of too little too late.

Reagan, George W. Bush, George H. W. Bush, Nixon and Trump all raised the national debt by higher rates than Carter, Clinton, JFK and Biden FFS.
