IMHO...
As a collector of over 50 guitars and 12 heads and 4x12's of varying makes, most acquired over the last two years despite collecting for more than 10 years.
1) US Economy - the last two years were the worst more so than now. At best right now, we have shifted out of the "I need to sell my gear to pay for the mortgage this month" phase. Prices are starting to come back.
2) Because of the financial desperation of the last two years, people that could afford to buy Diezels new, forced to sell them at a loss after losing the jobs that afforded them to buy new.
3) Those that bought them used, got a great price break especially through EBay which always carries a risk, so the prices typically are lower than market value.
4) Unfortunately Ebay is were retail store look to judge market value on unfamiliar items then have little experience selling, so they also price lower than value for Diezels.
5) GC another large resource for used gear, often does a poor job of protecting their high end gear from shop abuse and very inconsistent pricing do to "Price Drop" strategy for high priced slow selling gear.
6) Probably the most impacting to used prices are the inevitable cascading used prices after an amp changes hands more than twice. If everyone takes a few hundred loss selling, the prices keep coming down. 50% off new seems where rock bottom is for this impact, although I have not seen that for Diezels ever.
7) The last impact of price that hurts a brands resale value (I have not seen for Diezel thank god!) is when cosmetically abused, modified or repaired examples start showing up on the used market.
