Anyone try this mix in a 4x12, but not in an X-pattern?
I'm familiar with the X-pattern, but wonder how either ones top & bottom would sound.
Results?
Thanks.

Have not tried them separate only in x pattern ?
I might try separating them will let you know if I do ?

I'd like to hear the comparison results too. I've only used that combo in an x pattern, but the new trend seems to be putting the greenback flavored speaker on top, and v30 below. I have a couple cabs I'm considering trying it in too.

That's done to counter-balance the fact that V30s are louder
With the same dB rating, the speaker on top is the one you'll hear

Yeah, I understand the idea behind it. Seems it would be common sense, but I haven't seen it much until the last few years. I wish I had tried it now.

I have those in my 1960B......Been gigging with it for a few months
now and they cut through great in band situations.....I just got a
5150iii 50w and they are a wonderful match as well as my other heads.....
I have had them in x pattern before and although it sounded good the top/bottom
pattern sounds better to my ears.....

So you did V30's on bottom, H30 Anniv. on top?

I pose the question because I have done the X-pattern mix for years now and my cab always sounds awesome at practice...but when we play gigs on a nice sized concert club stage, the sound seems to thin out. It always sound brighter and not as thick to me when we gig. I'm trying to figure out if that's just because my cab is super directional, or if it has something to do with the speakers being in X-pattern.

Yes that's how I have them.....I think the cab sounds better balanced this way.....Even with a straight cab I thought the V-30 on top in the X was still a bit dominating but on the bottom
They seem like they are put in their place so to speak........

Side Note...........I have a China/England mix for each pair......
8 ohm......wired mono 8 ohm....
