I’m just not diggin the greenbacks/V30s mix for what I do. The greenbacks just sizzle too much up top. I may try turning my cab on it’s side.

But I’m also considering the V30/K100 mix. Was thinking k100 on top and V30s bottom. But perhaps the X pattern is best.

Playing hard rock and metal with the Jj100.

Thanks!

K100's on the bottom, for sure. Maximum thud!

I ran a 4x12 like that for awhile. Massive with some volume!

Ah yes.... Just had to ask (how ya liking that beast?? I do miss it...sometimes ;) )

Well man, depends what we're striving for here. You'd mentioned you were getting the band back together to start playing and such. Are you hearing too much sizzle or are the mics picking up too much sizzle? Where's the sizzle?? I actually like sizzle. I don't like fizzle. Fo'shizzle - no goofing around, I mean this - sizzle good; fizzy bad.

BUT ONTO THE QUESTION: What cab? I'm reluctant to pop the K100 affirmation here as the JJ does play particularly well with certain cones; definitely the V30....and the greenies, hmmmmmmm, are you trying to stay in the the Cantrell'esque style of music - or, prog metal - or, thrash - or....?? Depending on your musical wants - the K100 might be a bit too stiff. Might be a Cream65 to maintain more of a vintage "higher powered greenback" vibe, or, the Cream75 which has more knock to it but can also feel a bit biting/high-raspy till they break in. The knock is nice....if ya can get past the highs during break-in period.

I dug the K100s for recording. Very "neutral" speaker. But in a musical setting with other instruments and jamming around and looking for those "moments of sonic inspiration", they came off a bit stiff (used with a variety Diezels, a modded TwinJet, Rev.2, etc.). My experience with the JJ is it needs a speaker with teeth, and also some sweetness to add complexity to its otherwise more dark tonality. Hence Jerry's like for the greenbacks.

I ran that amp with the Jerry special (green/V30), an all V30 cab, a G12H/V30 mix, and an UberKab (G12T75/V30). I liked it best at high volumes with the UberKab and the oversized Bogner 412 loaded with all V30s.

YMMV.

(Edit: To this day my fave cabs are the UberKab for almost everything, and the Diezel FL 412 K100 for recording. Honourable mention to the Fryette D412 loaded with whatever flavour ya want - amazing cabs - the Deliverance, NOT the FatBottom)

Thanks, brother! Always appreciate your feedback. I love the JJ. It’s everything I wanted the BE100 to do, though I love the BE.

The cab is a Friedman 4x12. I like it JJ with it better than the BE. I’m playing out live in a four piece and I’m the lone guitar player. Only use the 4x1/ for large stage or outdoor gigs.

I’m gonna try to lay the cab on its side. I usually mix the V30 speakers, so.... I love the Friedman 2x12 ans am favoring that over the 4x12.

Give the side-sit a try... Question, how's your band finding your part sitting in the mix?? And listeners - any feedback from them?? Oft at times what we hear close to our rig differs vastly from what the listeners and even other members in the band are hearing. So long as it sits right - cuts right - and the people you're playing for are really digging it - it might just be a proximity thing. Case in point, always found the UberKab to be a bit of an odd-duck tonally... Especially close up and personal at lower volumes. But man, get things cooking with this cab and it sits and fits perfectly with a lot of different styles of playing (particularly heavier styles). Now when I practise, I am used to its "low volume up close and personal" nuances, and just deal with it. And even at moderate volumes, I can differentiate between the V30 and the 75 on the top depending how I cock my head (can't say the 75 is to my liking). But once the SPLs start getting upped, the cones start working together and BOOM....sonic awesomeness.

Lay 'er on the side - see how she likes it. Different positions should always be tried regardless of outcome, that's what I tell all the ladies

Glad you're digging the amp Bro!!

I would load the k100's on top and the V30's on the bottom. I have a ton of k85's and love how they mix with the V30's. I have not tried them with a Friedman, but it works for just about anything for me. I have four cabs set with that mix. I like it and I think you will too.
