spent last week at Vai Academy 3.0. Had a great time. Al Dimeola and Zakk Wylde were there and was just a great week of clinics and playing. Very inspirational - you leave ready to work on being a better player. Meet lotsa great people too. They keep you so busy you just forget there is a world outside the guitar and what you are doing. A nice way to spend a vacation :). Here's my jam with Steve. Was a blast to do and such a great time. It's kinda pricey but I think I'd rather spend dough for experiences than gear these days, so money well spent for me I guess :)

that's so fucking cool. great playing. must have been an unreal experience.

Awesome playing Darren! You sound just like you belong there on stage!

What an amazing experience!

Many congrats!

Great playing, that must have been an awesome experience. Big props and congrats. Must have been a little nerve racking getting on stage with Jack Butler

Awesome, Darren - I'm sure this was a great experience. I took private lessons from Steve between his Zappa and Alcatraz gigs at his studio in Sylmar and I learned a tremendous amount. Much of what he showed me to practice became part of his "10 hour" practice regimen.

The whole week is awesome. so much to work on in my own playing that I hadn't really thought about. Man freaking Al Dimeola is a freaking monster. Not just chops, that guy knows time inside and out. He can play around the time in ways almost unimaginable. Even Vai admitted to being "dumb founded" at the way Al could play around a beat. Just insane.

Dude you keep showing up Vai, I'm surprised he lets you back on stage...

It is just like you to make a competition out of that. You miss the true essence of what was going on in that clip.

Words of wisdom!. What a great an experience that must have been. You are a super talented yet humble player and that was a real treat to watch. Thank you for sharing.

Head Cutting with Jack Butler doesn't get any cooler!!

it was tongue in cheek dipshit, its just like you to miss the finer nuance of anything...

That's EXACTLY what you do. You get caught looking beyond stupid, and then you try to play it off with some kind of sarcastic comment as if it's not what you really meant. You've done this so many times here that no one is really buying it anymore....dipshit.

This might be one of the coolest things I've read on RT! Couldn't agree more man, life is about experiences. Glad you got this opportunity.

Incredible! Gear is just stuff but that's something you keep forever.
