Vai Academy with video

spent last week at Vai Academy 3.0. Had a great time. Al Dimeola and Zakk Wylde were there and was just a great week of clinics and playing. Very inspirational - you leave ready to work on being a better player. Meet lotsa great people too. They keep you so busy you just forget there is a world outside the guitar and what you are doing. A nice way to spend a vacation . Here's my jam with Steve. Was a blast to do and such a great time. It's kinda pricey but I think I'd rather spend dough for experiences than gear these days, so money well spent for me I guess

Awesome, Darren - I'm sure this was a great experience. I took private lessons from Steve between his Zappa and Alcatraz gigs at his studio in Sylmar and I learned a tremendous amount. Much of what he showed me to practice became part of his "10 hour" practice regimen.

The whole week is awesome. so much to work on in my own playing that I hadn't really thought about. Man freaking Al Dimeola is a freaking monster. Not just chops, that guy knows time inside and out. He can play around the time in ways almost unimaginable. Even Vai admitted to being "dumb founded" at the way Al could play around a beat. Just insane.
