Based on my experience with a lot of mts:
Real thing (actual amp) is better. Mostly due to the Power Amp section- but if you have a power amp you like modules will sound great, but 2 modules going into that 1 Power amp won't have the diversity of having those 2 actual amps.

For sure on the power amp. I was using a Randall RT2/50 power amp, which is awesome and which I will probably never sell. I think the SYN5050 is probably voiced to be more neutral. Even though the Synergy stuff is an incremental evolution of MTS, it sounded and felt like more than an incremental improvement.

They took a super idea and somehow seem to be screwing it up with production issues. I think it is because everyone involved views this as their side project (?)

I think this might be part of it. I could see the design process with each of the builders taking a lot of time. I'm sure there are at least some refinements to the circuits over the namesakes they're based upon, and likely a decent bit of collaboration needed with guys who are probably already plenty busy. I think people understand that that's an unpredictable process. Once the designs are finalized and they go to production though seems to be where things are wonky. I hope they get it figured out.

I think something like th RT 2/50 is the right way to go. At least it can do EL34 and 6LG. If I buy a preamp based on a real world amp with 6L6's, I want those to power it if possible. I'd still have to use these with tube power for sure.
