Huge 80's vibe with those guitars indeed; Steve Lukather & Farris, in particular to me.
I had a 24 fret sunburst model from the "golden era"; cool guitar, but the 24 fret smaller body format never really felt right to me.
I'd love to play one of the old early full body models.
I think originally they were in house and then Warmoth?
I've always wanted a Valley Arts but never ended up with one. When I first started playing and was wondering what would be a good guitar, a guy I know who toured for years from LA said Valley Arts or Tyler was the best of the best.
They had a brick and mortar store in Cologne, Germany back in the 80s. I went there when I was an exchange student and got to play one of those Guild Brian May guitars. IIRC, they also some of the EBMM EVHs when I was there in the early 90s too.
They made a nice guitar, but we all know that Paul Reed Smith Private Reserves are far superior guitars. I think it would've been great if Valley Arts had a inter-company kickball game for charity against James Tyler with proceeds going to charity. Zion would be riding the pine.

In the '80s and '90s Valley Arts had a store here in North Hollywood, CA not too far from where I live now. I remember going in there many times. I may have even bought a guitar from them once, but mostly to window shop and buy picks, strings and cables and stuff. I didn't have much money back then and their guitars were expensive. Valley Arts guitars were considered top notch by studio musicians at the time.
The store had a primo selection. Not just Valley Arts guitars, they carried some other brands including the Yamaha "Weddington" series, which came out of Yamaha's development shop down the street in Sun Valley, CA. At the risk of temporarily hijacking the thread; the Yamaha Weddington series was a awesome Les Paul-ish model made in the early to mid '90s. The Weddingtons were very well respected in the guitar playing community at the time. I still see them used for good prices.
