Does anyone have one? Played one?

I've been gassing for one of the handwired Vox AC30's real bad, but they seem to be littered with reliability issues (made in China). Anyways, in doing my research I stumbled across the Valvetech Hayseed 30, which is an AC30 clone made by a guy in Indiana. People seem to be raving about them and their top-of-the-line model is made in the USA and is actually cheaper ($1,750) than the China-made top Vox offering ($2,000).

Since there aren't all that many clips or videos out there and I doubt I'll ever see one in person, I was wondering if anybody here had any experience with these that they could share? I'm not necessarily in a position to buy at the moment, but I'm curious about these and would like to have some knowledge going forward.

Here's the link to the clips on their site:

and here are the few vids I found:

The day I take the plunge to get my AC30 fix I'm going with Valvetech. You can't go wrong with Hoosiers!

Yea, this thing seems like the best option

I have heard nothing but good things about the Valvetech Hayseed 30 amps.

That said Vox amps are notoriously unreliable, even dating back to the 60's. I haven't seen and reliability complaints on the newest Vox handwired amps. http://www.voxamps.com/handwired/ They actually look pretty cool. If I had the room and the money, I would get the AC15HW1.

I have a '66 Vox AC50, which suits my Vox fix, great amp.

Here are a few threads regarding the Handwired series that turned me off:

Seems like a lot of people are having the same issue.

Do a search at the gear page. There were a ton of threads on the Hayseed 30 a few years ago. I haven't read anything bag about those amps.

Wow, thanks for the heads up on the Vox handwired series. I loved the switchable master volume feature on the handwireds, but I am sure Valvetech could easily had that feature too.

I agree. Everyone I know with a Hayseed raves about it, and the options are nice. I just can't see any sense in spending money on a damn Chinese amp that's a Vox in name only.

Fantastic sounding amps. Great tone and take pedals extremely well. Have played them lots but don't own one.

Yeah they aren't even Vox amps anymore. They should call them RCA AC30 "Red China Amps"

Do they even make one amp in the UK still?

I don't think they have a single amp made in the UK anymore, unless there's some super high-end model that I'm not aware of.
