Very humorous axe-fx2 review videos

I guess what gets to me is-

I can't believe the amount of bitching people do about gear these days. Ya there's some drawbacks to everything, but compared to when I started playing, I mean, jesus, everything gets nitpicked to death these days- how can he compare the axe to an Eventide Eclipse even? They are totally different, does the eventide do amp/cab modeling??? And bag on the effects when he doesn't even want to read the manual, and get in and edit presets? I mean the device is DEEP so it's like, why fork out the dough to get it and then complain about how deep it is, and also state clearly that you have no intention of even trying to learn about it so maybe you COULD make it sound like you'd like???

When I started I had a 10 watt Traynor SS amp, a chorus and a boss SD1. A big step up for me was a Marshall mosfet 100- then I got a Boogie Caliber 50 (boutique at the time) and a Digitech rack thing, and I was in hog heaven. With the stuff out now, it'd make that gear I had look like a pile of poop... I'm just saying, less complaining, more practicing would be good!!!!
 
I think he believes himself to be some sort of purist. Stated something about the box should really focus on the 10 or so really good models and with like a laser beam focus, improve those models until they are as good or better than the amps they copy. Two boxes - one for effects only the other modeling. Shit, better models sounds great to me but at the cost of having to purchase AXE III and IV. It don't sound that great.
 
But what's wrong with the models that are already in it? And would that guy know if they were "improved"? Or would there just be more complaints?

He is complaining about a box that he doesn't even care to learn to get in and tweak. It's bizarre to me.

Complaining about a detailed, thurough manual...????

I don't get it
 
Personally, I'm very concerned about the missing "Country of origin" demarcations...

Ya, touched on this in a different post (something regarding John Mayer), "Bitch less, f*ck more". And in the case of us on this forum, "post less, play more".

I'm jazzed about the unit - period. I don't care if it has spot welding oddities or if the board is cheap. I know how difficult this box would be to design, engineer, and produce - the thing sounds incredible. For this I'm grateful. Furthermore, it's upping my playing time and recording time. MEGA plus :thumbsup:

So it goes....

Dead on! People hand wringing over clips, weird mids, plastic high end, not enough growl, bloom, in the room, raspy, fuzzy, etc. It's just unreal the amount bitching out here these days.... I agree. Well said. :yes:

It's great time to be a player with great sounding tools. Why not just play and be happy? :confused:

I like his vids for the gut shots, he seems to crack open everything at least the vids I've seen.

Damn it's pricey over there though, I though it was pricey here already...

If I remember correctly the Axe II is €2200 here on the mainland.

In reality it's not really more expensive. If you judge by the exchange rates, yes, but that's not really something to go by.
 
I'll agree on one thing, bitching about the cost of the boards in the axefx is retarded. The majority of the cost is in R & D.
 
I like how he complains about the unusable keyboards sounds and stuff then goes on about how fantastic the Eventide stuff is??? The Eventide stuff is great. I've owned an H3000se, from what I remember there weren't a whole lot of presets on that puppy that were exactly usable for guitarists. If he spent 1/3 of the time using the AxeFx2 and getting to know it rather than rambling on, he may discover that there are a lot of great tones in there. It is NOT an amp with a few front panel knobs. It is a complex tweaking machine that can do a multitude of things.

I only have a few presets that I use, all based on the one I made in a hotel one night on a beta unit. I've only even tried a couple of amp sims.....because I dig the one I use so much that it just stays where it is, because I'm happy with it :) It ain't that hard to get a great sound out of the unit....and I certainly haven't read the whole manual. Has the dude ever looked at or read the Eventide H3000se manual??????? Now that one is a treat.

You don't have to have 383 presets to be happy.

Yall need to realize/remember that the OP signed up here with no other intention than to bad mouth the AxeFx and Fractal. That should put things in context and perspective for you, especially if you do a search.

That said Ive always said that you should play what you like. There isnt anyone that can tell you whats best for you for the most part. Its not like I needed to say that , just sayin..
 
It does seem a bit fishy that they didn't bother to print where it's made on the unit....but on the other hand it's no surprise that all those chips are manufactured in Taiwan/Korea etc....so I guess it doesn't make much of a difference.

Thanks! Ya I feel like he might as well be reviewing a F1 race car. Or me reviewing an F1 race car, for that matter. Do I drive? Ya. Do I know enough about race cars to offer an opinion on some new model? "Oh, well, I drive, you know, to work and back, but I dunno, these racing tires look suspect, and did I mention it's 500 grand? And furthermore..." I mean, I don't know enough to even open my mouth. And neither does this guy, clearly- he even states it, like something he's proud of- he thinks the huge manual is B.S. ???? So why buy it? If you don't know and are unwilling to learn about it? It's no secret that it's an involved device!


I'll say this- I know quite a bit about the Axe FX- and I feel like I've barely scratched the surface. IMHO creating sounds on the thing is a COOL experience- getting into it and tweaking, every few minutes the sound improves and you usually end up with great results, beyond maybe what you were expecting to achieve. But it's not plug and play!!! It ain't that kind of device. I mean, Dweezil replaced 2 refrigerator racks of gear with it. There's alot going on in there.
 
holy crap how long are these videos? I watched a few minutes and couldn't take anymore.
