does someone know if there's a difference in sound between a model built in 2001 and a model built in 2004?

Yes, very likely there is a difference. I have a 2001 Model Peter updated to the latest Version and there was a big difference. Though I don't know how similar 2004 and 2008 VH4s are.

I'd like to get mine "updated" if the dif. is worth it.

Most noticeable difference is more gain on channels 2 and 3 and a overall thicker sound with a tiny bit of more saturation. The amp also feels less stiff sounding.

Imo it was really worth the update. If you want to do it give Peter a call and ask if you send him your VH4. It took less than a week including shipping when I had my amp at Peters workshop.

I think with the shippin' costs I'd be better of selling this Vh4 and getting a new one

Not sure but you can check on the UPS Website. Shipping within Europe is about 40€ if I remember correctly.

haha, no man, I called UPS and it's 450 for express delivery and 250 for ground delivery (all this without tax)

I was told that there was a change to the Deep Control - i believe that in 2001, the Deep did not control all channels.

I want to say Ch3 and Ch4 but not sure.
