What an amp.

Its probably the most underrated amp in existence. Id love to give the deliverance 120 a shot Because I'm now a fan of the Fryette design. It needs to be set up right which takes some time, but once its tweaked its a pissed off wall of massive lows. Through the fatbottom cab it punches you in the stomach with low end. The eq is so responsive and useful. a lot of tweaking options on this thing that takes some getting used to. But don't give up its sick when dialed In. Just be patient haha.

I always hear myself playing through this amp. Its hard to explain, The gain is there and you can hear it and feel it but it pushes back a little. It keeps you on your toes. This amp is very feely, if you dig in it tracks quick and is really defined in how hard you pick. The overall sound is just glorious tubey goodness ... Van Halen Tone.

Enjoy the vid, UL on full power through a vht fatbottom 212 cab with p50e speakers. Im playing my ESP Custom shop baritone with an EMG 81x in the bridge. No boosts. Carpal tunnel right hand hurts so maybe a little sloppy.

Here's the link for the broken internet.

Oh my!!! Motherfuckin' beast!! That's mean as hell! Suits your playing style man, badass!

Cool vid! The D60 can give you even more of an early VH vibe IMO...D120 is thicker/more modern. I really thought the D60 was SLO like in many ways.
Nice playing!

On my top 3 list of amps to own. Sounds gnarly man.

Definitely sounds killer here.

I had the very first run before the changes. Wasn't bad but I prefer the 100CL by far.

Would not mind giving a newer UL a run.

Always been interested in VHT, and this definitely helps that interest!

Nice! It's a fantastic amp. One of my all time favs. This amp makes you work for it, that's part of what I dig about it. If you suck it shows.

Sounds good... I liked your Hebert clips better though.

The UL is killer amp, with a unique sound.

Sounds awesome!

With the UL in the room, I'm actually surprised the Herbert is still sitting there and hasn't been sold off. ;) :D

Could you elaborate? I'm not up to speed on the history of this amp. I'd like to know what production year to avoid as I'm looking in the used market, and what changes were made afterwards. Cheers!

Great clip! Gotta love that UL tone.

I have run my ultralead and herbert together thru two warhead stacks(UL thru the 4x12s and the herbert thru the bottom 2x15 cabs). Brutal mix of tones with huge bottom end.

The UL is one of the best high gainers I have ever played. Was my no.1 amp for 3 years. Just so perfect for my playing, made me better. Made me pay attention more, then rewarded me with confidence which made me play more and harder. Kind of a circular cycle that always made me smile every time. I remember looking at all the other amps in the room and literally laughing out loud. Most of those other amps are gone now.

The UL and herbert were the impetus for me to jump into the more expensive amp lines, and both are in the top 5 of my collection.

BigRich, while it sounds promising, I recon because I can hear the string-attack, the volume was rather low right?

Could you perhaps do a clip with a 6 string guitar tuned to Eb or E with a bit more volume? That would help me at least get a better idea how it sounds.

Thanks dudes

The greatest part about the UL is how it responds to your playing. I love that about it, totally inspiring. Its truly a great "feel" amp.

I would love to track down one of those old dime randall stacks with the 412 and 215. I just have nowhere to store something like that haha. That was deff a commanding looking rig though. I bet that sounded insane with the Herbert and UL. Mine is a newer one without the 6L6/KT88 switch. From what I understand that's the only difference between the new and old ? or is there more?

One thing is this amp reacts to guitars and pickups differently. So I kind of have to EQ it a little every time I switch guitars around. So the settings in the vid I couldn't tell you haha. I could do a vid with standard tuning sure.

Just read this thread and maybe search some more on there. There is a lot of info:

http://www.fryette-users.com/forums/sho ... lease-help

I think there have been like 4 versions over the years. The UL started as the "100"

The one I had from the early 90's could run 6l6 or KT88 but the design was with a less aggressive 12AU7 in the power section.

They changed that to a 12AX7 late 90's/early 2000's and added a voicing switch which some people say is good and versatile. They also removed the Bias switch options.

After that they removed the voicing switch and added an EQ. That is the current production.

I am sure there is more that I dont know or that I am missing but IMO if you are shopping ultra leads you will want one that has a 12ax7 in the power section and not a 12au7.

That sounds brutal dude, good stuff!
I will try one of these one day

Had an old one, just sold it last month. The amp had a better feel, than sound IMO.
