VHX Midi Through

So i came up with this elaborate plan to control a couple of effects in the preloop via the morningstar ML5 Switcher. My brain still hurts figuring out all the switching in conjunction with channel switching etc., but i made it work.

Midi footswitch sends PC message in Midi Channel 1 (via bluetooth, no cable) to the VHX and then midi through to the ml5. Somehow the ml5 doesnt receive any messages from the VHX. If i plug in the midi footswitch directly to thr ml5 it works fine, so the problem must be the VHX. What could be the issue here?

Please help, i have a gig on saturday and im afraid my beautiful setup is not going to work
 
I don't want to assume anything and I don't know jack all about MIDI on amps, but are you doing what you want correctly? Are you trying to change effects or your presets?

The VHX is fully MIDI capable. MIDI could be used via the MIDI IN, COLUMBUS, USB MIDI or via Bluetooth Low Energy MIDI-BLE.

MIDI CHANNEL is selected via the SETTINGS screen, as well as OMNI mode.

Supported MIDI MESSAGES are:

PROGRAM CHANGE messages will select the current preset, from 0 to 99.

CONTROL CHANGE messages could control various function of the VHX, as follow:

CC 1 Toggle POWER AMP MUTE and enables TUNER screen.

CC 2 TAP TEMPO Global.

CC 3 TAP TEMPO for DELAY.

CC 4 TAP TEMPO for TREMOLO.

CC 6 PREAMP VOLUME +3db BOOST

CC 7 PREAMP VOLUME value.

CC 16 Toggle ALL FX and PREAMP LOOP.

CC 17 Toggle PREAMP LOOP.

CC 18 Toggle FX 1.

CC 19 Toggle FX 2.

CC 20 Toggle FX 3.

CC 21 Toggle FX 4.

CC 22 Toggle FX 5.

CC 23 Toggle FX 6.

CC 64 Delay Level.

No, i dont mean the onboard effects. I want to switch different effects units located in the preloop via midi. For example channel 1 has effect A, channel two has effect b.

Just for potential error location:

Have you tried to connect VHX via Midi cable? (which one do you use)?
Have you tried to connect your Midi board to the ML5 first and then going from ML5 via Midi Through to the VHX?
