Wow some of these sound really good! I need to own one of these one day.

I would've hooked you up with some tones from my catalog! Next time man, keep me in mind!

Cheers and great job!

Good stuff James! This is "Kemper Guy" from Las Vegas. We met at the Chris Cornell gig. The SinMix stuff was some of my favorite when I had my Kemper. Try the Recto from Stymphalian. One of the best I tried.

Kemper gets some great tones. No doubt, between it and the AxeFX... they are the closest thing to "the real thing".
PROBLEM IS.... they cost just as much as "the real thing".

When the Kemper and AxeFX is $500...... the game will officially change.

Hey James I sent you a PM, if your doing Kemper High Gain shootouts you need my real Cameron commercial profiles. I really want to know what you think.

Cool.

Awesome video James!

I'm getting close to buying a Kemper unit. Can't really crank my amps in this apartment.

James!

You know I love your videos, so thank you for sharing.

Also, I'm stoked you're still Kempering along. Awesome, man.

Some of these profiles sound excellent, others less so. But the beauty is that it is all in the eye or ear of the person who made the capture and the tone they were going for so that is cool. That said, i do feel Kemper is slightly fizzier than the real thing but no way in hell i would be able to pick that out in a mix so doesn't really matter. The one other major observation i can make from this is that the shootout has probably saved me a ton of money because the high gainers are so similar that with a bit of EQ, I would almost think that a person who owns a Fender, a JCM800, and a 5150/ Recto could get all the sounds they will ever want or need. All those could be EQ'd via a board/ plugin or through different mic placement.

Thanks for doing this video, definitely is helping direct my profile acquisitions! I was not a fan of the profiles that had that "half engaged wah" type sound, others sounded very nice

They don't cost anywhere near the same thing. Axe Fx has some 200+ models and lets says each amp costs $1500 (many are well above, some are below) = $300,000 worth of amps, not counting cabs, stomp boxes, rack fx, mics, etc etc etc. Kemper has a unlimited value as there is no end to profiles. Pretty impressive value if you're satisfied with the tones each can achieve.

Your argument would hold true if they could only model/profile one amp.

Yeah man.. Your cost concerns are a hoot! LOL!

I love the enthusiasm but when it comes to Kemper, Fractal, Helix... for RECORDED tones, they are for more cost effective than buying amps. Especially now with how close all 3 are to the real thing. If i was only going to own ONE thing to play through it's be my Helix which is a HUGE statement from me as I owned and loved the Kemper for almost 3 years and had the AX8 for quite a while.

The value for dollar argument doesn't hold up here.

In my defense, I didn't know much about the KEMPER.
Now that I know more about what it can do, I understand why the price is so high.
I know it is great for home-studio recording.
