Vintage Marshall 212?

A Marshall 212 on CL shows a photo of Serial 13042, made in England. Dude says it was bought used in 83... I didn't think cabs came with serials until 90-something?

I'm curious as to what model it is. And What speakers were supposed to have been in it, they were obviously ripped out at some point.

$300 for a cab in this condition, with "speakers". WTH man.

I thought they used those serial number plates and jack cups in the pre-JCM 800 days, so that ad could be right. Might be a 2045 cab. The speakers look odd. Maybe metal dust caps.

That's actually a decent price for a late 70s/early 80s 1936 cab, although this looks a bit bigger? Not sure about those speakers but they could be hi-wattage celestions that went into the 100w combos, like the rock n roll baby Marshall....a 4 holer 1x12 1959 with a factory ppimv? I think it was a Marshall 2150? But if you check celestions from the late 70s they did have some with those dust caps, and whizzer cones, some real oddball shit. Those 1922/1936 2x12s seem to command 4x12 prices.

After looking a little more, it does favor a 1936 cab, still not sure of exact year model. "tilt-a-speaker", the piping, and logo. I've seen some 1936 cabs that had jacks for stereo...the one I've linked has the single jack obviously. I don't know if that helps date it or not.

^^thats the speaker that Marshall put into that 100w 1x12 combo I mentioned. They also put a 150w speaker in them, I forget which model. But they are more EV like, but not as good lol from what I've read. Lots didn't care for them. But I think even G12 65s had those funny dustcaps at some point..I'd go try it out. For a late 70s/800 cab that's a good price.

If not mistaken the cutouts on speaker frame is a bit different on the G12 65...best i can tell from photos.
