Oh HELL no !!! Goop=forget it !!! Never, never, never....I don't care if it's your "trade secret"...no goop in any amp I send anybody. Period.
Why? These guys don't have many ways to protect the research that is their business.
I've got news for you, many modder's schematics are out there now...Fortin's Cali, Friedman BE 2nd version, Jose stuff is floating around...no goop in my amp or you don't get my money...no magic markering over the values on components either, or using chemicals to erase the markings...I'm paying you good money to mod an amp, if you go out of business or something happens, I want to be able to get my stuff serviced for years to come. I paid for it.

Trace knows his shit. The best 1987x i ever heard was Marshall Mels voodoo modded one. Absolutely fantastic tone!!

like I told that douchebag carveldan a while back, why mod a stock JMP Marshall. Even if you have the determination to do it, pull out the original PCB and stick a new board in, or just buy another head for the mods. At least you can put it back. But ruining a vintage amp with mods...not my preference.

Prove to me that that is Traces work. I call bullshit. I own a V-reck, V-plex and modded MTS modules by Trace and his work is the cleanest of all. If that is his work which I highly doubt I will be beyond shocked. The only other modder/builder whose work is equally as clean is Doug R who is ridiculed for his "anal" build quality. There are some builders/modders on here that are highy coveted and who's work I have seen that is pure shit. Amazes me what people accept for quality. I also own a gooped amp by a notorious builder from the west coast and I can attest to the fact that while it scared the shit out of me it does not affect the tone in a bad way at all. If you can prove beyond reasonable doubt that Trace did that mod and gooped it I will send him $100 toward your amp being modded.

I've had several items modded by them and they're all great. Since buying my DSL with the deluxe mod I've bought and sold over 30 amps and it's still my #1.

Same here. I also have a DSL50 with deluxe mod. I bought mine already modded so I don't have any experience with Trace personally. I have had a couple other stock DSL's in the past and this one has been the best, in tone and reliability.

I remember seeing that old goop thread on hcaf years ago and how he did that to a few amps, but I don't remember the details. Trace chimed in at the time. I forget his explanation, but it must've been good enough for me since I kept doing business with him.

My 1987x is not gooped and it sounds phenomenal. It'll hold its own with any modded Marshall.
