Excuse the clams and all the usual disclaimers. After not playing for a few months had some time to try out the iRig pre, Zoom Q8 and a few mics that have been collecting dust for years. I wasn't able to get any decent results with the iRig pre on the first try. Nothing wrong with the unit, just user error. Plus I really wanted to run multiple mics to best capture the room sound. I spent the better part of two days cycling through several guitars, cabs and overdrive pedals while familiarizing myself with the Zoom.
Here's what I ended up with: guitar is my Bauer custom build > MXR-GT-OD > VTM 60 > Marshall TV cab with Greenbacks and the V30 from my 440 Live cab. In the VTM my Tung Sol that I had in V2 gave out and I replaced it with a JJ803s. So, V1-Peavey Super 7, V-2 JJ803s, V3&4-Sovtek LPS. A 57 on the Greenback and a Samsung on the V30. Also using the built in mics on the Zoom.
