Man I had to track down a guy I knew and make up an excuse to go visit him so I could play his JJ. He has this 1960 cab that's like 10 years old and man was it so great to play the JJ. He's divorced so we got to crank it up. Yeah, I'm gassing hard for a JJ right now. I love the BE100 and would take one any day if I could, but the JJ is it for me.

It's a damn comfortable amp IMHO.

YMMV, but for me - it was like coming home!

I know, right? I've been through the rollercoaster of amps, only the Runt 50 in the Friedman line, Bogner Helios 50, Splawn, and other high end Marshall flavors, as well as a host of Boogies and Peaveys. I'm perfectly at home with a DSL50 head. Fine with an EVH, 5150, or a JSX. I'll never spend big bucks on gear again.

What? I'm curious how he'll like it when compared to his JJ. Both are such killer amps but if it came down to some highlander shit and there can be only one which would it be? ;)

I'm sure that sucker sounds amazing.

And out of ALL the Friedman amps... it would be my first choice.
I simply do not need 100-watts. And with the half-power switch, that's the sweet-spot.

It's just so ridiculously expensive. It boggles the mind. :loco:

I love my JJ, one of my alltime fav amps.
Next on my list is the slax.

No. I'd keep the Slax and buy a Helios 100. And if I didn't like the Helios 100, I'd keep the Slax, JJ and the Helios as "back up options" and have Friedman make me something custom; or get another VH4, or Hagen. Or the VH2.

And with these amps would come the need to have complementing guitars. So, with the aforementioned 4 or 5 amps would come a requisite 2 or 3 new guitars; and of course a restructuring of my effects rack, likely new DAW monitors (so that they matched my shoes), and likely some Vovox cables left in their original packaging "just" in case.

Oh, and an Axe-FXII UltraXL for effects back up in case my rack crapped out.
And a MIDI foot controller for the Axe to control it "just" in case the rack controller crapped out.

And of course with this newly acquired gear, I'd have to make some changes to my mancave, so a new addition to the house or just a separate house altogether to really let the gear do the talking without any additional noise or the like.

So ya, it's a dicey concept. I better like my JJ and my Slax, otherwise it's just going to spiral into a mess of GAS. Terrible. So, knowing my triggers, I think it's best I got the Slax to really just put an exclamation mark to finalize my foray into the rabbit-hole that is Friedman.

But oldmtlhed, you got me thinking, I really oughta get that Helios "just" in case :lol: :LOL:

a few of his "iced up" watches, and maybe a Ferrari or two.

Watches are pointless - we all have iPhones now and are pretty much programmed to know the time without looking... We've become machines.

As for Ferraris - hard to find any of the higher end models with room for an amp, let alone an amp, guitar and cab!!

But man, you never told me you wanted a JJ. You should be careful, you JUST got that Katana and now you're looking for a JJ...?? Dude, there's a support group for people like us - I think the ringleader is on this forum, but it's 1-800-GAS-GONE or something like that. Maybe give them a call if these "dark thoughts" permeate your thinking any further.
