Warehouse Guitar speakers VS Vintage 30`

Well we will say these Vintage 30 clones from WGS sound really great. Bruce and I prefer them to Vintage 30's as did the random guy who stopped by the shop while we were comparing.

The WGS doesnt have that signature "kack" to them like a Vintage 30 and they have a tamer high end to them..They are missing that signature Marshall low mid range thing. But I feel as does Bruce that these speakers sound really really good!

BUT, they are not a Vintage 30 clone, in our opinion. They are the closest "V30 clone" to date. They are different but in a good way.
 
Thanks for the review. Did you happen to get any CL80 clones as well?
 
No we have not. We really only use them in the combo to get some low end there is to much in a 4x12 in our opinion. :D
 
Does that mean it has more low end :confused: than the V-30? The midrange - was it more or less? I was thinking about trying them. Now I'm not to sure. I have read a little about them at TGP. Anyone here try them in a 4X12?

Jeff was referring to the Classic Lead 80 clones as having more bass than the Vintage 30 clones, if I'm not mistaken.

I got my two Vintage 30 clones a few days ago. I'll try them in a while, once I get my new 2x12 built...
 
Hey Jeff, what speakers does Bruce recommend in a 112, 212 and 412 for the Mod 50??

Classic lead 80 for the 1x12 adds more low end for a open back combo.

His fav for 2x12 and 4x12 I believe is Vintage 30''s, but he prefers the WGS now!

Frank's go to is the Vintage 30 but the Heritage 65's are a close second.

My go to are the WGS clones and then the Vintage 30's

They do not have more or less of either low end or midrange. They are just a bit different but in a good way! The Classic lead 80 has more low end than the Vintage 30 so we use it in the 1x12 open back to add some umph!
 
OK Jeff, I just bought the CL80 clone and one V30 to check out. Heck as cheap as they are, why not??

I would pay close to the cost of a true V30 for them...its a no brainer at this cost! It is in my opinion the best speaker I have bought to claim they are a a clone of something...but it is still not a clone of a V30!
 
I just tried my new closed-back 2x12 with the "Veteran 30" Vintage 30 replacement speakers. Since this is a new 2x12 I built for myself and haven't tried Vintage 30s in the exact same cab back-to-back with these, I can't say exactly how close they are to Vintage 30s; however since I've used Vintage 30s extensively over the years in a multitude of cabinets I can confidently say these are quite close in terms of their overall sound and response. They sound like Vintage 30s overall, perhaps somewhat smoother on the upper mids...same articulation and response, same aggressive sound, same breakup, same general EQ. I played them for a bit at a very high volume and they sounded quite nice then too. They are breaking in rather quickly, probably because I don't jerk around when it comes to breaking in speakers. :) I find Vintage 30s break in pretty quickly for me too, so this is consistent with my experience with them.
 
Thanks guys - I have been thinking about building some 2X12 cabs suit case style. With a cover over the speakers that is easy to remove { it rains here}. I am not playing out as much as last year. I am starting with a new band. The four of us played together in 94/95. I feel real good about these guys. Last year at one time I was in three bands and networking. Most of the time I jam with about a half dozen bands. Learn there licks, see who can do what. Sit in for bass or guitar if someone is gone for a gig. It keeps my chops up and helps with my writing [stealing licks]. {band hor} I have (3) 4x12 a 2x12,1x12 and (2)9x10 guitar cabs. A 2x15 for bass. I use two amps most of the time, that means two cabs. Moving 4x12 around sucks. I can play threw what ever is there , but most people do not have what I like.
 
I just ordered two of the "classic lead" type 12" speakers, even though I don't need any more speakers. I figure even if I don't use these, they're bound to be very good speakers that someone else would gladly pay the current "new" price for later when the prices go up. :) I'm actually just curious about them, and possibly might mix one into a 2x12...and it can't hurt to have spare speakers that are this good at this price.

Some people are going to be kicking themselves later for not getting these at this price...

I put a pair in my old ADA 2x12 splitstack cab, tried it with a Mesa Express 5:25 and the 'wreck liverpool clone, it sounded great with either one. As long as these speakers hold up well (and I think they will) - they are a fantastic deal.

I just splurged and got a quad of them. $117 shipped have them shipped to my door. --From what I understand, they're using Kurt Mueller cones on them, so that's all good.
