I've been poking around every so often for a good deal on a Marshall Origin 50. I want to do that drop in replacement board mod that Jason Tong offers as a relatively quick side project. An Origin 50 listed in "great" condition came up online at GC for less than $400 so I grabbed it. It actually had decent pictures and looked to be in really good, almost new condition. Fingers crossed it's packed well and arrives safely.

If you're not familiar with the drop in board replacement here's the overview:

And here's the pic from GC's site of the one I bought.

Congrats. I know the feeling. I have a KHE amp switcher that can handle up to 8 amps so that was my limit. But through no fault of my own I have 9 amps now…
I sort of did the same thing, but worse. Started with a DeLisle 8x8 switcher. Filled that up. Bought a 12x12 and transferred what I had to that. Bough a few more amps to fill up the 12x12. Now I'm starting to fill up the 8x8 again. I just ordered a SonicTone Loyalist the other day, and now bought the Origin. No, I don't have a problem at all

Are you going to try the amp before the mod?

I know how it is with amps, sometimes they follow me home!!!!!

Yeah, I'm going to try it out as stock first, but will ultimately do the mod. Since it's a complete board replacement it can easily be put back to stock at any time.

What I'm thinking about doing with the stock board is turning it into an Origin preamp. I'd have to look more into how to do that though.

Nice amp and congrats. I guess my question is what kind of flooring do Marshall guys prefer seeing as how everyone who uses a Mesa has this super thick plush carpeting in their guitar rooms.
