I went into a store today and played a Fender Hot Rox Deville with a strat, OH MY GOD

that's it, sorry but that's what I'm looking for........a nice warm Fender tone, and it was only 700 something vs the 1,500 euros for the Axe.

I don't play much metal now a days so I'm set with my VH4 and my Little Joe for hi-gain. with what I'm saving I'll get the Fender combo and a nice Suhr pickup system for my MIA strat, as well as a tuner pedal and a delay pedal. Or maybe I'll get a nice T.C. Elec. G-major or G-major 2.

:scared: :aww:

doesn't get mentioned much, but Axe FX cleans are really good!

no, I know I've heard great things on youtube. But it's 1,500 Euros plus the rack case and ART SLA-2 poweramp....there goes 2000 + and this Fender MAN! you should hear that :inlove:

Does not matter what the Axe FX does well or does poorly, if you found the tone you like grab it and be happy!

Don't use cost to un-justify an Axe. You found a tone you like and went with it. That's the key. If you go with the cost argument you can't win: you spent 50% of the money and got 1/1000th the functionality.

That said, a nice tube amp will always make you smile. Enjoy it.

If you don't need the functionality, why pay for it...

That's true. But as guitarists, we often buy plenty we don't need.

Ha, I knew you'd love it! What did I tell ya?!?!?!?! I would've gone w/ a Deluxe Reverb Reissue, but I'm sure it sounds great! What do you think of the overdrive? I've never been a fan of their combo overdriven tones, but the clean sure does sound great. NOW, all you need is a Vox AC15 to A/B it with    LOL

I apologize for causing any unwanted GAS.

Later Joey.

Not surprised, based on your topic awhile back on the simple rig, you were leaning in this direction sounds like its the right one for you at this point.

I'd like to have another Axe-Fx; this time it will be a standard. But with what I have now, I'm getting what I want for tones (vintage Vox and vintage Marshall - From my Tech 21, JMP-1). I just picked up the Vox AC4TV, what a great, simple, pure vintage Vox tone. I'm spending more time these days with:
Rickenbacker --> JangleBox --> AC4 than my more expensive, expressive gear, and luvin it. If this AC4 had another channel (like a Top Boost), I could do jangle and chime cleans in one, and overdrive in the other. As it is, I'm working on a single setting on the AC4 that will let me control the tone with the guitar volume, tone, Rick fifth control, and pickup selection. The AC4 is the best $250 I've spent in awhile!

Enjoy the simplicity!

Thank you for all the support guys haha, specially in an Axe Fx loving forum such as this.

I didn't buy it by the way, I have to go back to the store since I left my John Mayer strat there for the tech to take a look at it (second opinion). While I was there I plugged the Deville with my John Maye Strat, and that was HEAVEN! the tech arrived soon after so I got into business and couldn't try the Hot Rod Deluxe which was next to it. But I'll try it too when I go back to pick up my guitar.

I still have to try em both side by side but if the clean channel is similar to the Deville, I'll go with the deluxe since it's more portable (1x12 vs 2x12).........

Neuro, didn't get to try the gain channel, I only played for like 3 or 4 minutes and it was all in the clean channel :inlove: I came home and searched some youtube clips and the deluxe sounds SWEET....I like what I heard regarding the gain channel though.

what I did take with me was the new Boss FBM-1 (the Bassman in a pedal thing) and wow...this thing sounds SWEET through my VH4 clean channel...PURE SEX.

Well you know, I've never been a modeler guy (not really because of the digital feel, but more because of all the dialing), having said that I still believe the axe fx is a GREAT unit and I REALLY REALLY want want in the future. I like the idea of not having to deal with tubes and all that (they die on you, aren't as reliable etc) but something deep inside was telling me to go vintage.

At this moment of my life I'm not really into hard rock/metal that much and hell I have a VH4 sitting in my room, this freaking amp OWNS, so I don't feel the need to experiment with 15 dif. hi-gain sims. It would be nice, don't get me wrong........but when my ears heard those fender cleans I knew I had to get a Fender amp.

The Duesentrieb Little Joe has a deluxe reverb circuitry and I though that I already had the fender vibe with it, but after playing that amp today there's some "HUGENESS" missing in the Little Joe.....it's a freaking great little amp with amazing cleans and can deliver the hard rock/metal tones for ages, but the Fender was at another level (clean-wise).

anyways, thanks for the comments and now I only need a nice delay pedal, a tunner pedal and I'm golden!

Fender Hot Rod Deluxe/Deville + Fender Strat + Boss FMB-1 + BB Preamp + Delay pedal = SEX!

I would love to have an Axe-FX, but at the moment I don't have the money nor the time to spend with it.

For some reason I feel this invisible pressure that I must get the Axe-Fx and that liking my tube amps is inferior. I am not the only one apparently as Joeytpg seems to feel the need with going with a tube amp over the Axe-Fx too. It shouldn't be an either or thing, but I think it is to a certain extent....

I'll be off the wall and speak for Ralph, Kage, an myself an say were all owners and lovers of tube amps, personally, I'll keep my mark iv till im gone, an also hopeful to have a jcm800 that I hate to death modded real soon when the funds arrive... but for live use, versitility, and a ripping tone that's sooooo damn close to my boog, and I clean I could
NEVER get from either tube amp I own, in a lightweight, portable rig set up I now have, the axefx is the shizzle. I havent spent enuff time to dial in EVERY sound, but ive spun the dial and gotten some insane warm 'tweed' blackface, jazz-like tones in the notch'd position on the Suhr, and then hit a switch an had Mark iv right there, that kind of versitility is what I prayed for and pay'd for. The variety of amps and effect quality, for what it does, it's unbeatable, IMHO, but with a specific reason in mind. there. I've blown my useless wad again.... I feel better...

There is only one good reason-- It's better to have more and not need it, then to need more and not have it-- because you never know when an idea may hit and have you wondering WHY, WHY, WHY

BUT I agree with those who have posted, that what truly matters is that we find something we're happy with

theres nothin like a clean fender and some pedals, i used a deville for the longest time, still have it but dont take it out much these days

I was always curious how the Deville's held up against the Twin and Deluxe Reverb. It would be nice to run a two amp rig with the Fender clean and dirt tones and my VM for the Marshall crunch and lead tones
