Indeed. You see this a lot coming out of Japan in various branches of Kawaii Metal.

In fact, it goes way back to the Ladybeard days.

Deicide - first three albums and then Vital Remains (Dave Suzuki-era), Malignant Altar, Arghoslent, Sadistic Intent, Altar Of Gore, Morbid Angel...too many to list.

I agree, that’s why I said a few other things here and there. FWIW I never could get into the first wave of Tampa Florida sludgy DM like Morbid Angel, Obituary, Immolation (not Florida but whatever) and completely unmelodic slam stuff such as Suffocation, Broken Hope, etc

That checks out, but there's a million different flavors with wildly different sounds

Gothenburg - At the Gates, Dark Tranquility, old in flames

Stockholm - Entombed, Unleashed, Dismember

Finnish - Amorphis, Sentenced, Demilich

Florida - Death, Morbid Angel, Deicide

New York - Immolation, Profanatica, Incantation

Theres good shit from all over the world and it all sounds different - Lykathea Aflame, old Samael, Vader, old Cryptopsy


And i'm not even counting the metalcore/deathcore bands, which most people over 50 call death metal even though it's a different scene

You’re schooling me here.. I had no clue Ladybaby or ladybeard? Were the pioneers or Kawaii metal my brother just schooled me on babymetal last year.. I thought it was insanely innovative.. however I just found some Ladybeard stuff from over a decade ago.. had no clue this has been around that long. good info
