The label is Hytron, so it’s either a pre CBS Hytron or CBS/Hytron. I’m thinking pre CBS since CBS would never miss an opportunity to put their logo on it.
What gets me is the silver plate. I’ve never seen a 12AX7 like it. I’m thinking it’s from the 1950’s, but it has a halo getter (vs the metal D getter), so that could be 1960’s? Thoughts?
It tests crazy high gain…like hotter than Ei.
I will say it has its own sound and sounds absolutely killer. Has a very clear grind to it with clarity. Notes sing like a Mullard, but are brighter. Bottom end is compressed, but still feels good.
