What amp for?

I think a Katana is going to be pretty much the standard answer for any question about small low cost practice amps, yep.

can't beat the value, throw some pedals in front if you really need to, can get them super cheap on the used market and they sound great for the price

…to amplify an electric guitar signal so it may be heard over the brass section in today’s big band ensembles. In addition, some have a built in distortion circuit so the average player can achieve a fuzzy sound, as heard on the latest hit single by theKinks called “you really got me”, without slashing their speakers like they did.

Tons of good stuff. Katana, vyper, positive grid, I’m sure line 6 has something. Great for country and bluegrass to death metal….

But what grammar book for?

You beat me to giving a pretty similar smartass answer, you bastard. We think way too much alike.

I would get a fender hot rod deluxe, either one of the ones that comes with a V30, or replace the speaker in a normal one with a celestion type

Cant be beat for tone to price ratio for anything clean/edge of breakup focused

Already answered your own question Jeff. The katana cannot be beat in these situations. What’s more, if he gets into other styles of music as times goes on, the katana is ready

Tell them to just sell blood plasma and sperm for a year and get a Moab, Sniper, or Langner and avoid the next ten years of roller coaster flipping.

Cough twin reverb cough cough...
THIS. Big time.

I picked up another old Twin; mostly for the lush mid scooped cleans I like out of them, but damn if it doesn't take a boost like a champ OR just crank it and get that vintage natural gain in spades. Perfect for those tones. Grab a mid-late 70s version and pay pennies for a real tone vs a modeler.

Just don’t copy my amp buying tendencies and you’ll be fine

Can't really afford to, so not much chance of that happening. I've been playing my same little Axe-FX 2 based rig since the Axe 2 first came out.
