what the title says.. is it CCA , suhr or Rhodes Amplification Colossus 100... this is actually a 2 part question which amp sounds the best Rhodes Amplification Colossus 100, CCA either, or a cameron ccv.. thanks.. im thinking on getting one,, of these.. im a brutal metal dropped tuned fool.. it will take me about 4 months to get the cash.. im your middle class worker with wife and kids.. and the wife doesnt understand the whole spending 3000 bucks for a amp  ... go figure.. and if i did it behind her back well she would fucking kill me.. and cut me off forever.. :gethim: which wouldnt bother me none if i would beable to get a badass amp..  but its okay to spend that on her!!!

I think with Down From Up he uses a Rhodes and a Herbert mixed for rythm and just the rhodes for the lead parts.Don;t know if he is ebdorsed by suhr ampwise.

Not that the amps you listed aren't awesome, but Andy (and Pete, and...) could make any decent amp sound like a million bucks. I'd rather have Andy's fingers than his amps...

Andy's a member here. He might best answer the question. So is Kyle Rhodes and Peter Diezel. Andy has a signature amp with Rhodes and a Diezel Hagan.. I think he still has a Diezel Herbert also, plus a few low wattage amps he uses for local gig's. Might have a Suhr Badger too. He doesn't have a CCV I think at this point. Their all great amps..it depends on your taste. Contact Brad King if Diezel is your choice, or a Cameron CCV-100. Or you can contact Kyle Rhodes to see about putting a deposit down to get him started on a Rhodes Colossus with Andy's spec's.. Checkout the Youtube demo videos and the RT member videos. Hope that helps....Greg ;)

I love Diezel (which is what I play) but Rhodes looks way too legit to not check out! I got some colosuss gas my self

He uses a Rhodes Colossus, which is a really awesome amp. I've tried it myself. <3

If I recall correctly...His all around "favorite" is the Diezel Herbert.

im not after andys tone by no means and know he can make a cheap ass amp sound bad ass.. i have seen a few videos of him playing different amps, and i have been really into his playing, here lately, and he has a super genuine personality.. and we talk the same....lol.. nice country accent..lol plus i seen a video with him playing diezel and a video him playing the Rhodes Colossus H-100 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AjAH_A5xUOM.. so i jsut didnt know.. on his website it says diezel amps.. didnt see rhodes anywhere..

okay ive got a question.. what if i got my 6505 modded by jerry.. could it get close to the tones that the Rhodes Colossus h-100 gets.. not the same but close.. something about that amp that gives me a boner!!!!! the Rhodes Colossus is beefy, tight, raw, gain for fucking days.. and jsut brutal as fuck... i love my 6505 and its brutal with so help stock.. but modding it could i get those type of tones.. lmk if so which mods from jerry you all suggest..

Generally speaking...Trying to modify an amplifier to mimic the qualities of a completely different amp is a losing proposition.

Their may be some mods that can be done that lean in the direction of the qualities that you mentioned about the Rhodes...But it will still sound like a 6505.

If the Rhodes is "THE TONE" for you...Perhaps you should just wait, save some money and get "the real thing"...Just my opinion.

i think ill jsut save up.. i might have to do some major ass kissing and sexual favors more than i like to!!!! :aww:   jsut kidding.. but i might beable to maybe beable to knock off a month or two on the delay of purchasing the amp... plus my daughter needs braces and her something else done so it might get pro long a little longer... thats why i was considering modding my 6505

Some of the 5150/6505 mods out there are really great sounding...But I watched MANY guys (especially over at the HC boards) spend a lot of time and money trying to mod their Marshalls, 5150s, Laneys, Mesas, ect into sounding like a "boutique" amp that they favor...The results are often disappointing. Even Jerry will tell you...If you really like the amp stock, but would like some tweaks (slightly tighter, a little more gain, a little bit more upper mids, ect) then a modification is often a good idea...Changing the OVERALL character, tone or response? ...Not likely in most cases. This has been my experience.

The Rhodes and the 6505/5150 aren't even close to the same amp.

The Rhodes is closer to a Diezel but has a better feel (for me).

If you play 6 string drop tune metal, the Rhodes will shine.

Here is my vid with a 7:

yea first video i actually watched of the rhodes.. freakin brutal

Mine works great even for just Drop D stuff that I usually use it for. Drop B does sound killer with it though...I need to get the band to play more in that ;)
Definitely way different from a 5150. 5150II was my main amp for years and my singer still has a 5150. Rhodes kills them easily with just one channel, and then you have 3 more!

Good deal on a Colossus in the classifieds right now.... :D

Thanks for the support guys! Andy has a lot of amps. For the record, he paid for his Colossus, and we customized it to his specs.

Here's a pretty killer video of Andy doing some clean, followed by dragon slaying:

And, for the metal, and to supplement Jason's awesome video (can't wait for him to do some more this year!), here's Ola: (play-through video coming soon...he's a busy guy!)
