I'll name a few....

GFS VEH... (I know.. I know...) dude's were praising it on every forum for a time... Got one, figured it was a fluke... Tried another... terrible.

Korg Pandora PX1 (if you remember these... they were actually cool for what they were but man.... terrible to gig with)

Line 6 Spider Valve (whilst tones could be had.... fart. That and the issues and QC...)

Morley ABY (owned three... one worked, until I used it at a show, the other two literally sounded like a live cable from a plexi laying on a piece of sheet metal)

I've never really bought any heavily hyped gear except an OCD a year or two after the furor died down. It was a good pedal at a time when there wasn't a thousand great OD's out there for the taking but not really on the level the hype made it out to be, which tbh, it could never be.

Panama Inferno 100... yeah, I got duped and lost a ton of money on that disaster.

Boss Katana - the cleans sound great. the distortion sounds like a can of bees. if you have one use pedals for gain. Please. Especially if you're playing with my band.

Dimarzio Super Distortion - HONK HONK HONK HONK

Dimarzio Tonezone - *more geese noises*

Friedman BE100 - I mean it technically sounds good, but jesus christ man if I wanted that tone I could dial it up on my kemper. That's not to say dave isn't a talented designer; I love the dirty shirley/sister, the naked, phil x amp, etc. It's just too smooth and too refined and too much like a recorded amp sound. Marshall sounds aren't supposed to be polite. That sound can work well for lead tones but for rhythms I'm sorry but I hate it.

Revv Generator 120 - probably the only amp I bought, played once or twice, and immediately listed on reverb - sterile, lifeless, probably the most boring 3000 dollar amp I've ever heard in my life

Bogner/Line 6 alchemist - fucking YUCK

BKP warpig - sterile, no high mids

BKP nailbomb - sterile, no high mids, sounds congested

I reserve the right to list more, these are just the first few that came to mind.

Any BKP you were fond of? I remember when those rolled around and the Rebel Yell was all the talk

if you had a gun to my head I would say the riff raff, but I'm really really not a fan of BKP

Pickups are one of the only things i'm a full on TGP/Tag/A-bone cork sniffer about, and I just can't stand the sterility of them

Others may percieve that as "clean" or "clear" sounding but it drives me nuts

I do however think it's really cool that they offer a bunch of aesthetic options and colors/finishes, that type of thing

I custom ordered a VHII from them. I haven't tried it yet. But I am excited

Depends 12 hr Night Defense diapers. I was soaked and loaded like an old coffee filter before midnight!

:ROFLMAO:
I didn't mind the toy robot mids on the super distortion tbh.

Anytime someone describes a pickup as clear I just think strident like the Seth Lovers.🤮

Seth Lovers are supremely overrated, the only time ive ever heard them sound good is when someone potted them because they were so microphonic it blew a tweeter on his PA. Blues guy, has les pauls and stereo tophat emplexadors, and a protein for a gain pedal. jake has phenomenal tone and plays loud as shit

But at that point are they really seth lovers anymore? The microphonic tone is THE tone for those. I believe he ended up replacing them with wagner crossroads and was much happier

The BKPs are clear in a different way though, like every single one of their humbuckers sounds like an EMG 81 with the treble knob halfway down

You can hear the high end fizz, and you can hear the 1-2k dimarzio honk, but there's no richness or life in-between - the "kerrang band" as I like to call it

Only guitar I had a super distortion in was a MIJ fender strat with original Floyd rose. I remember liking it but I had only been playing for a couple years so idk what I would think about it now.

I had high hopes for them. They are overrated IME, and definitely get badly microphonic easier than the calibrated T-Types. I did about 200 gigs with them in an Edwards ES as that's what it came equipped with. I could never really lose the strident high end from them. Granted I dime the Twin's treble but roll the treble back or tone down on the neck and it's still too thin on top. Trash vs a good ol '57 classic. The only time I got one to work ok was putting the bridge into the neck pos of the somewhat dark Edwards LP. It mitigated some of the brightness but was still kind of honky and stringy at the same time but at least it had a somewhat fatter neck sound. Not worth keeping though.

I like those pickups in the neck of a LP. Clear, no mud. Good for riding the guitar volume. Def not good for chug

Probably very amp dependent is my guess. I'm cranking Twins and the Seth neck didn't have enough compression. It almost reminded me of a single coil and put me off from pickups when they are described as "Paf-like". I've heard people say the 57 classic in the neck is a mudbucker but even in the neck of the LP through the Twin it was hands down better than either of the Seths without being muddy.

Well first off WTF is ever muddy through a Twin lol? Def see the single coil thing but neck singles are cool as hell... You play semi hollows though don't you?

Lol, I can't think of anything off hand. Yeah, a couple semi hollows is all I own right now. An Edwards loaded with 57's and a 335 with T-Types. I haven't had good luck with my rig and Duncans between the Seths and 59's. Seems like Gibsons have more compression that works out better for me.
