I haven't played nearly enough speakers yet, but so far I'd say G12H30.

That can get confused with treble, but the V30 lacks treble in my opinion.Kapo_Polenton":308e1o1d said:The retro is described as having MORE top end than the v30 isn't it? What about beam of death or ice pic ear rattling? I think i am interested in gowing that route to pair a v30 type speaker up with 2 super v's.
The Retro has less upper mids than the V30 and more high end. Which works well in the speaker. I also find the Retro's lowend to be tighter at high volume levels.
I was wondering if I was the only one that got this impression.....troublehead":1ytd1jpj said:In fact, I'm surprised so many people prefer the G12H30........its one of the brightest, grittiest, cocked wah, tubby-sounding speakers I've ever heard. It can sound good with some amps, but sounds like shit with about 95% of them IMO. Many people will chime in and challenge this but I will have no part of it. I have tried them numerous times......new ones, old ones, Hellatone ones.....they all get on my nerves really fast.

Damn! that sounds like Id love it. Plus for $90 a piece makes it a great option. Ill have to try them next time im speaker shoppinglpg80":3bam6f14 said:droptrd":3bam6f14 said:Can anyone compare the p50e to something?
a re-voiced V30 thats more open/cleaner sounding, more solid bass, less high end concentration.
It looks like it. $90 / each isn't bad at all!droptrd":9fz3g11n said:Is fryette the only place to get the p50e?

I'm trying to decide whether to just buy the speakers or get the Deliverance cab.....
My next question is how do they sound in a rear loaded cab?glpg80":uy0iqp1g said:TheMagicEight":uy0iqp1g said:It looks like it. $90 / each isn't bad at all!droptrd":uy0iqp1g said:Is fryette the only place to get the p50e?

What cab you using this config in if ya don't mind me axin'...??
V.
Well sir, I have the P50's in a VHT Fatbottom cab and the V30's in an Engl XXL (oversized) cab. Both are front loaded. I run both cabs together. I have recently thought about running an X pattern with p50/v30 mix. I have been too lazy to do it because VHT solders all their connections and it would require me to fire up the soldering iron (God forbid).I use to run an X pattern of v30's and G12K100's and it was pretty good. I really like what the P50's bring to the table. TThey seem to smooth things out when combining with the v30 cab. The one thing I can tell you is that the V30 is a much louder speaker than the P50 so maybe an X pattern is not the best idea but I may try it anyway.

Thanks Jim. I'm definitely not to 40 hours yet. I've been running various pre-recorded guitar parts on a loop through the cab. But I've been doing it at very loud volumes and I can only take so much at one time.Scumback Speakers":3fxzcvdf said:PeteLaramee":3fxzcvdf said:As I mentioned before I'm just hoping their not fully broken in yet.
Pete, the 65w models you received are going to need 40-50 hours of stage/high volume playing (30w at least) before they're fully broken in. If you need instructions on how to do the variac break in (and have a variac), email me and I'll send them to you.
Not IMHO with my Soldano SLO. I replaced one J75 out of four with an an H55. More goodness.King Guitar":15k5eze2 said:Pete,
All J75s will be bassy. Neento mix in the M75s for the cut.
