Something that would be really cool is exploring alternate transformers/power supplies/etc. in the hopes of lightening Egnater amps AT LEAST ten pounds WITHOUT sacrificing tone. Sumbich amps are heavy :aww:

there won't be another Egg head in my tenure that is heavy!

So I guess my modular supermodel cyborg idea is out?

Steve

It has moved to the front of our list but must stay in the sound room or the rest of the shop will be under its control!

An amp with a clean channel and two IDENTICAL lead channels, each with a sperate EQ, and possibly voicing switches, and gain switches.

The options with that would be endless.
AGREE 100%. All the 3 channels amps have your standard clean, crunch and High gain channels...in some way or other. But like kannibul said two High Gain channels with seperate eq, voicing switches and gain switches. Why voice the 2 gain channels seperatley. Let the user decide how much gain they want for Rythym and Lead as opposed to pre determined voicings.

A good example...the new VHT SigX...why not make the 2 gain channels the same...use a switch to determine a different voicing...same as the JSX both gain channels are great but give me the ability duplicate the channels with a voicing switch. Afterall I'd say most of us use the same gain channel for Rythym and lead and just using the volume knob or a boost pedal. The JVM almost got it right with the dual Masters but there you go. Again agree with kannibul.

Thanks...

This way you can go with a solo boost (set them the same except the channel volume) or flip a switch or two, and you have a 3 channel amp, or you can go with the same setup on both, with different levels of gain (because that really does sound different), or one with the mids dimed...or the mids scooped....

Some amps claim to have channels that are the same, but when you get down to it, they sound different and can be made to sound the same, but they just cross-over in terms of sound - usually one channel is brighter than the other or something like that.

You could also go with the two lead channels in such a way as a dirty clean and a clean dirty, or whatever...

And the dedicated clean channel is a must for any amp.

how about the amps that are built at the seminars come as an amp building kit with instructions inside on what to do? or even the amp already assembled?
This would be cool...

I concur :D

2) If Bruce ever gets tired of running the amp building class May I suggest that he has the class professionally filmed and released on DVD. A step by step DVD would be awesome!
All the schematics/ drawings could be put onto the DVD so people could print it out and the kits could be purchased from him.

That is an AWESOME idea!!

Bruce needs to do it the right way and get it all filmed so it can be clearly followed even if you have never even opened up an amp before or never used a multimeter...
not like the Lee Jackson dvd's which are pretty poorly put together and which dont always show the really important things upclose!!

I would really like a small 15 watt combo amp that could take a one dual channel module. That would be great for practice and portability; just slap in the Bman or VX or SL and you have a great clean and dirty.

First Channel: Fender Blackface cleans with a lot of clean headroom
Second Channel: Marshall JMP crunch up through modded 800
Third Channel: Ultra Modern type gain (Diesel, VHT, etc.)
Footswitchable solo boost with it's own gain control
Comprehensive footswitch with silent and instant switching midi capable
Two separate loops assignable with choise of parallel/series
External bias adjustable
Choice of tube types (EL34/6L6 - 6550/KT88
Mini Toggles for voicing options on all three channels that are footswitchable
Voicing options for depth (low end thump) and mid cut/boost
MADE IN THE USA!!!

I like this idea, too. Or a one-module head 10-20 watt head.

werd, I would probably never be able to make the seminar... but I would buy a dvd the second it came out.

More modules. Please keep them coming. Orange, Hiwatt, Sunn, and Rivera tones are all tasty.

A power amp that can switch from pentode/triode, high and low power, and standby via midi. Similar to the RT2/50 but stereo and higher wattage.

A parallel fx loop for the M4 lol.

I like the idea of a 20-30 watt single channel, Non master amp with a footswitchable boost for more gain. Probably EL84's. Everything from Voxy spank to AC/DC to 80's metal. Basically a smaller, more gig-able superlead with the boost feature....or instead of the footswitchable boost a switch that makes it a higher gain circuit overall so you can set it up for classic rock and blues and switch to flamethrower mode for harder stuff. Obviously must respond very well to volume on the guitar.

Something for direct recording that sounds just like a mic'd tube amp. Not close, not an emulation. I'm talking not being able to tell the difference. Heck, just make an interface that plugs into the computer that I can plug the Egnater and Randall modules into and get the same sound I get with them live.

A lower budget MOD system and Modules based off of the Mesa Mark Series and Orange amps

Dude, me and you are so on the same page.
For instance take the 5150III. Nice amp but to me the 2nd channel is useless. Why not have 2 identical Lead channels. And instead of calling them Lead etc... Name it Gain 1, Gain 2 or whatever. So that if you wanted less gain as the 2nd channel provide already...just dial the gain down, maybe some voicing switches etc... I have a JSX...love it and love both the gain channels but for it to really be 100% usuable for me both those channels need to be the same or at least a boost for each channel. It just blows my mind that the manufacturers pre determine how much gain each channel can have....just freakin go for it on both channels. If WE want them to sound different we'll eq them differently. I love my JVM...love OD1 on Amber and the fact that it has 2 masters...very cool but OD2 Amber is voiced differently...yeah I know what they were going for but why...why not have OD2 be a complete copy of OD1. I'd get a hell of alot more use out of the amp. Again, most of us find a tone that we like and pretty much stay in that area eq wise...changing things up with either the guitars volume or a boost pedal or eq pedal for leads etc... Why limit your range on 2 channels...doesn't make sense.
