I’ve always wanted a fiesta red Strat, just never found the right one. I simply never found a Fender production model in that color that felt great or worth the money.
Took the day off today because I had t really been guitar shopping since I got back from the US. Go to my favorite 2nd hand store, which usually has 100 guitars and I see a fiesta red Strat with a beautiful birdseed neck. The tag indicated a 56 Custom Shop NOS from 2000 with the bridge swapped to a chopper. Other than that, extremely clean for a 25 year old guitar. It played great, but was on the fence since I’m not a fender expert on pricing. I asked to see the case and COA and all looked legit. As I’m sitting there trying to google more info my usual clerk came over and he had already taken pics of the neck pocket and cavities and electronics Within 2 seconds I see the initials JC on the neck and body indicating John Cruz. At that point that’s all I needed to see and quickly closed the deal. So I get this select alder, 5A birdseye neck 56 NOS reissues made by John Cruz for almost the same price as an AVRI. While I know the swapped bridge pickup takes a ding on the value, it makes it much more useable for me.
