There is a local guy with a 77 black Custom with Duncans in it. It has a hard case and has some buckle rash/scratches/swirls on the back but the rest looks pretty clean and no chips/dings that I can see.
I have played some Japanese Les Pauls that I liked more than comparable Gibsons.johnpace2":2yl6z8hj said:Not really sure, but it's never made sense to me the people who try to sell Greco's, Orville's, etc. for the same or similar price as a real Gibson.
I've had a Greco '84 Sykes model, mint collection and that guitar was impressive. These MIJ LPs aren't made with the same Mahogany as Gibsons, so they don't have the same midrange but the fit, finish and playability is great and easily on par with Gibson Standards/Classics. My old one had a 60s neck, nice and slim and fast. From what I gather the early 80s to 90 are the Grecos to get...the 70s were a bit of a crapshoot. They do sound good just don't expect the same tone as a real Gibby.Matt300ZXT":3gkw9j45 said:There is a local guy with a 77 black Custom with Duncans in it.
