Yep! It's everywhere. From food to cars to houses... Even import guitars are now well above the price they cost like 10 years ago.

You've got LTD's in the thousands too... seems to me the only deals left are on the used market for actual USA strats, LP's, and the odd V or explorer. Usually barely played.

They charge what people are willing to pay. So I guess there's enough people willing to pay these prices otherwise they'd be out of business.

I certainly wouldn't pay that much for a guitar,

That's not exaaaactly true

It's what they think people are willing to pay

From what I understand, sales are absolutely tanking because inflation is completely eclipsing people's wages/earnings/income, at least on average.

And that's for the entire economy - guitars are still artificially inflated because of the coof

It's inflation, man.

It's everything. Guitars are just worse because of the way COVID worked. Guitar market got all fucked up by a gigantic surge of hobbyists spending money on guitars they never play.
The market bears this out??? Who is spending $4200 for a SUHR?? What’s makes this $4200???

Their first 24.75” scale guitar and they made it in the tele family. I contacted them to see if they could do it in a Modern and they said no. Price is crazy too and while I’m sure it’s well built, it’s not unique enough to make it interesting to me.

That's the point. If people aren't willing to pay that much, they either lower the prices or go out of business. It's self correcting.

Unlike with budget level instruments, the manufacturing cost isn't as crucial. Companies like these aren't building to a budget and figuring out how much they need to sell it for so they can make their minimum profit. These guys are pricing stuff as high as they can get away with because why not.
