What is the best Multi-FX with MIDI and Best Priced

Looking for options on a MIDI FX unit to use with a EVH III 50 Watt. The goal is to use the FX unit to balance out the levels on channel 1 and 2, lead boost, and switch channels.

I play in a cover band and the effects I normally use are Phase, Chorus, and Delay

I would also need a pedal to control the preset patches.

I use a POD HD500 run four cable method with my EVH 50 watter. It serves as my foot board, head controller, FX unit and also a back up if need be. For the money and very little coloration of my tone it's hard to beat for all that.
 
Looks good, it is only around $400 on Amazon.

Rocktron Intellifex,Replifex,multivalve are great units and can be had for under $200.
 
I use a TC Nova System. Switch channels via midi right out of the Nova, use the EQ to compensate for the volume drop on channel 1, has a ton of great effects plus boost available on every patch if you want to boost leads etc. Typically around $300 used give or take. I also use an expression pedal with it to control delay times/levels, pitch shifting and more.

Can't use the Nova with 4CM though, so it's either all fx in front or all in the loop... If you could that thing would be amazing. The sound quality is great.
 
What effects suffer from not being in front of the amp with the Nova system?

I usually only run delay for some leads, chorus for some STP songs, and Phase for the solo in Weezer's Hash Pipe and Lenny Kravitz's Are You Gonna Go My Way.

I have read good reviews on the Roctron units.

-The built in overdrive (which is pretty good actually)
-compressor, which in most setups is usually first in signal chain
-and in my case I like most mods up front (phaser, flanger, etc).

If I had one I'd run it in front of my amp and use a separate delay and verb in the loop OR run a couple stomps (dirt, maybe a univibe or phaser) and run the Nova for delay/verb.

It is a good solution if you run it into a clean amp and intend on getting your drive from the Nova.
 
I run the Nova in the loop and for the most part phasers, etc work pretty decent. It will def do everything you're needing to cover. Also does really nice harmonizing. I like the fact that it has such a small footprint on stage & I don't have to carry a rack for effects plus a controller.
 
I was researching the Rocktron Intellifex and I see there are 4 versions. There seems to be a lot of discussion as to which version is better.

It seems like this unit excels at reverbs, delay, and chorus. The replifex seems to be designed to duplicate stomp pedals.
 
This is midi capable, but only does one algorhythem at a time. Never the less I was so impressed by the quality of sound for the $ I pulled the trigger on the Eventide H9.
 
I've done the TC stuff with the Nova and if I had the tones from the Nova in the functionalityof the Line 6 M13 then that would be ideal to me. My current set up with some Suhr pedals and an Amp Tweaker Fuzz. Those and a RJM pedal switcher with POD HD 500 is much better and more flexible for me and my needs.

What I wish is for Fractal or Kemper to come out with their own version of the POD HD. Even if they were stripped down. Just give me midi and 4CM, low noise, and simple routing and I'm great.

Or if TC Electronics could make the G-System not suck the tone out of an amp it would be the perfect unit.

I've had 2 versions of the Intellifex, the blackface model and the online version, and there was no difference other than a different faceplate. It will do the "STP" pitch shifting/chorus perfectly, I think Dean DeLeo used these.

The Replifex and Multivalve(same unit with a tube) is setup for more of a stomp box use. I think you can do the 4 cable method with these units, not sure, but it does have EQ pre/post so you should be able to compensate for the volume change between ch1&2 on the EVH. It can also change the channel on your amp too. Great units, especially for the price. Also, these have a very good Leslie sim or Rotory effect too.
 
I understand this is not what your asking, but just another option.

You can have the amp modded to match the levels and then just buy a few pedals and one of Bob Savages little pedal boards.

It may sound more natural, would look 100 x cooler and perhaps be around the same price.

G-major 2 can do anything: phaser, delays, chorus, flanger, very transparent, as MIDI and computer interface.
This is what I use with my EVH 5153 50W and JVM210H and I like it A LOT!!
I have a Rocktron Intellifex Blackface as backup.

TC Gmajor has been great for me. The quality of the time-based effects are just supreme. and you can't beat the price.
