What new boost should I try?

Black Arts "Witch Burner" - it'll go from mild to Wylde. I use it to goose the front of my Quick Rod.

+1 on the Koko. I'm not a pedal guy at all but I've always got mine on the board no matter what amp I'm playing - from a Fender Twin to a Plexi to a VHT or Friedman. As versatile as anything I've ever used.

It looks like the Koko is the way to go, with the TC a close second. What is the difference between the original Koko and the new one, aside from the chassis?

I think the newer Koko is more annoying, with it's dual function footswitch. It also has too much gain compared to the original Koko - unless you need more gain. I like an OD pedal that starts at zero (compatibility) gain and goes up. The revised Koko's gain was always above compatibility level.

MXR 6 band. Works great and doesn't add any shitty fuzziness to the tone. Ability to pick and choose what frequencies to boost.

man if you've never tried a TS type pedal it would be worth at least checking out, or a Boss SD-1. they are pretty much in the same ball park. I'm a junkie for either lol

I've had my maxon since Oct. and still love it. Highly recommend.

I really like the TC Spark Boost.

I agree, Im running it in front of the 5153 blue channel and its pure love, also have you tried the EHX soul food?? great pedal under 70 bucks too...

I have been using the Xotic EP Booster in front of the 5153 Blue Channel with great success. I need to try the Spark Booster.

That's funny because I just ordered the EP to check out....

Well, my wife ordered the Koko Boost Reloaded and, it was DOA. It would fire up (by switching it to the on default, but the footswitch did nothing, regardless of whether it was battery powered, adapter, switched left/right/middle, nothing. I'm pretty bummed, as I had high hopes for it and with a 1 year old at home, my guitar time is pretty limited, which was wasted trying to get it to work.

I'm sure that I wouldn't have the same problem with an exchange, but for a "boutique" brand and price, you really only get one shot at it. So, off to try something else...will keep you posted.
