What pedal creates wacky synthesizer sounds?

Looking for some odd otherworldly synth-type sounds from a basic LesPaul/Strat thru MesaBoogie rig. I'm thinking old video game on steroids type of stuff. Any recommendations? ....

EH Microsynth. Tracks pretty well for mono/solo lines, not for chords though.

You could get a synthy pedal or for similar money you could get a a critter and guitari pocket piano or bolsa bass and actually have a synth...

You could try a Line6 M5. The synth section has lots of strange sounds and its true bypass when turned off.

worth a look, otherwise i'd suggest a Line6 M9 , can chain 3 various effects together if needed for some nice synth like tones
there are synth effects in there already as well (attack synth,synth fuzz i think and some others)

i use it myself in this way for the synthy stuff and some of the usual effects
