I’m curious what bridge humbuckers you all have played that you’d consider percussive. I know you can get that sort of tone with right boost and amp even if the pickup isn’t especially percussive. I’m talking about the pickups that have those percussive characteristics prior to boosting.

A few that I own/owned that I’d consider percussive:
WCR Icebucker
Lundgren M6
Motor City T-Wreck
Motor City Double D
EMG 81

What about you all?

Bareknuckle Nailbomb ceramic, Duncan JB, DiMarzio Evolutoin, X2N etc.

I like the Duncan Distortion for that. JB, 500T, Crunch Lab.

The Fishman Fluence’s are definitely the tightest I’ve tried, particularly the KSE model

For passives, the WCR Iron Man is very tight and doesn’t really need a boost to get there. The Bare Knuckle’s, Motor City’s and Lundgren are also tight, but I much prefer the Iron Man to those

Also, the Enwistle HDN’s are very tight neodymium magnet pickups and very cheap

I've only Played the EMG 81 & 57 Both of those are Percussive. I'd love to know which passives are since i'm switching most of my guitars back to passives after using EMG's for the last 30 Years.

BK Nailbomb, Especially the Ceramic
Duncan Omega
Wolfetone Marshallhead
Duncan Black Winter and Distortion
Gibson 498t in the right guitars
Lace Dissonant Aggressor

That being said, I think the guitar plays a large part in this as well. I had my Marshallhead in a Gibson SG 61 Reissue, and it sounded flubby and dull no matter what I did. Switched it over to my LP traditional, Boom. All the punch and chime was there. No matter what pickup I put in that Sg, it just had a soft mellow sound that didn't jive with me.

Seymour Duncan Distortion and Black Winter for sure. I agree about the EMG 81, as others have said.

I'd add the DiMarzio Dominion too. It's super fast-tracking and kinda dry.

The Duncan Dimebucker is also super percussive. Not really my cup, but pretty emphatic attack nonetheless.

The PAF Pro in the bridge is also very attacky. Kinda weak and thin, though.

I wouldn't call the JB percussive. It's pretty squishy/compressed to my ears. It's got a very similar feel to the EMG 85 in the bridge, the way I hear it.

The Icebucker's are some of the best pickups I've used!

What Aspect did you like about the IceBuckers?

Newer model Dimarzio Super distortions with 500k pots are magic.

Am I the only 500t lover? Percussive AF for me.
I like them too. They're like a fiercer Duncan Distortion.
